KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
Many of our fifth graders are wrapping up a two-day trip to Blue Ridge this afternoon! I know they made many memories and had life lessons learned. The entire field trip crew was very lucky with perfect fall weather. The wonderful weather looks to continue into the fall break for families. Students are off Monday, October 14, through Wednesday, October 16.
As you are able, please continue to help the communities that have been recently affected by Helene and/or Milton. I know many of our Northwood families have ties to people in the impacted areas.
Booster Week starts soon! Please read the information below with additional information from the Northwood Foundation.
Have a wonderful, restful, relaxing break!
With gratitude,
Heather Rucker, principal

Below is a note from FCS. While the message is geared more toward middle and high school, elementary students do need to understand they are not to bring or share food or candy with others at any time.
From Fulton County: As we approach the upcoming holidays, it is important to remind everyone that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules, and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
ART WITH MS. KATZIN
Northwood artists have been working on their artwork for our Art to Remember fundraiser!
You will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of products featuring your child’s artwork like magnets, mugs, keychains, and more! There are over 60 products, and many are less than $15. These make great gifts, and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Be on the lookout for an order form sent home with your child or click on this link to search for your child's artwork.
NORTHWOOD'S FUN RUN: BOOSTERTHON IS BACK!
We are excited to share that we are officially kicking off our Northwood Explorers Fun Run fundraiser! This year, we're aiming to raise $40,000 for School Wide Enhancements. In the past, this fundraiser has been done in the Spring, however we are moving it to the Fall this year (so don’t worry, there will NOT be two fun runs, just this one). We are excited for cooler temps and better running weather. The official first day will be Thursday, October 24th, and the fun run will be held on Friday, November 1st.
To get started, please sign up on MyBooster.com. We encourage all parents to participate through signing up at MyBooster.com, sharing about our fundraiser with family and friends, and by making a donation if you’re able. All students who are registered on MyBooster.com (this is free) will be able to wear pajamas to school on Friday, October 25th.
PJ DAY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25TH FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE REGISTERED ON MYBOOSTER.COM!!!
SEPTEMBER PBIS CELEBRATION
We had our 2nd PBIS Celebration for the year last Friday! The students celebrated all the good choices they made in the month of September with a few games of BINGO! Students enjoyed playing with their peers and winning prizes if they got BINGO!
