Important High School Athletics Information for the 2024-25 School Year
Tryouts for LCPS high school fall sports for the 2024-25 school year begin August 5, 2024. If you have a rising ninth grader is interested in trying out to participate in a high school sport, please read the information below.
Can my student try out for a high school sport?
- All first-time ninth graders are eligible immediately to participate in VHSL Athletics and Activities for the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, eighth graders may participate in a high school sport at the sub-varsity level if they turn 14 on or before August 5, of the current school year (2024-25 school year). Eighth graders who do not meet this age requirement on or before August 1 may not participate in any high school athletic program regardless of the season.
- All students must complete a VHSL physical examination after May 1, and turn it in to their school’s athletic department before participating in any tryouts, practices, weight training and conditioning.
- Students also must be enrolled in at least five subjects and pass five subjects offered for credit and graduation requirements to be eligible.
How does my student sign up?
Beginning June 14, eighth graders who meet the age requirement may register for one high school sport by visiting their school’s website. Parents or guardians and students must complete the online registration process and submit their VHSL physical form (dated on or after May 1) to their high school’s athletic department.
If you have questions, please reach out to Mrs. Windows, our Athletic Director at joan.windows@lcps.org.

Erg-A-Thon
Stone Bridge Rowing Club will be hosting Erg-A-Thon on Saturday, March 16th.
You may be asking, "what’s an Erg-A-Thon?" It's an event where our athletes erg (use a rowing machine) to raise money as the coaches challenge them to row a marathon.
Rowing in Loudoun County is a Tier 3 sport which means that the sport is 100% funded by the athletes. Each athlete is responsible for raising $500 that goes directly towards purchasing new equipment and maintaining the current equipment. Thank you for supporting our athletes and the Stone Bridge Rowing Team!
Donations can be made via Jot Form HERE.
Thanks for supporting the Stone Bridge Rowing Team!
