BES Parent Newsletter

If you are choosing for your student to return to "in person" learning on October 5, it will NOT simply be business as usual. Students will be wearing masks. We will be socially distancing to the greatest extent possible. Cleaning routines will be more rigorous and more often. Hand washing will be a part of each teacher's class schedule several times per day and there are hand sanitizer dispensers inside each classroom. Lunches will be picked up in the cafeteria by the students and eaten in the classroom. They will interact primarily with the students in their class. However, much of what the students will be doing within the classroom will be familiar routines from years past and they will be going to their special classes as well as having daily recess.

If you are choosing remote instruction for your student, there will be two teachers for the K-2 grade level span and two teachers for the 3-5 grade level span. These teachers will be teaching remote students only so they will be focusing on those students. Specific schedules for remote students will be created by those teachers and shared with parents soon.

The teacher that your child has been assigned to since August 17 may or may not be the teacher he or she will be assigned to beginning on October 5. When the remote students are removed from each current class list, I will have to move some students around to even out the in person numbers. As soon as I have finalized those new lists (remote and in person), we will be reaching out to you to let you know who your child's teacher will be going forward. We knew from the beginning that this was going to be the case and that is why most of our grade levels have been teaching remotely as a team for the past several weeks.

We are fully dedicated to making sure that your child receives the very best education we can possibly offer, whether they are physically with us at school or not.

Parents will be able to change from remote to in person or vice versa for any reason during the first couple of weeks. We realize this is an extremely difficult decision. After that timeframe, students and teachers will be getting into a rhythm and routine and it will be much more difficult to switch. That is not to say it can't be done, but there will have to be a very valid reason. Also, you cannot change and then change back and then change again...that is absolutely not what is best for the student.

All of that being said, if you have changed your mind since the intent survey a couple of weeks ago and haven't contacted me (or a teacher) yet...please do that ASAP. I need to get class lists finalized so we can get this ball rolling.

Please do not hesitate to call a teacher or any of us in the office if you ever have questions or concerns or suggestions. We are in this business because we love kids and want to help them be the very best they possibly can be. A huge part of that is helping you because, whether you're choosing in person or remote learning right now, you are and will always be your child's first and most important teacher.

There will be more newsletters coming soon. We will need to share bus and car line info along with several other items of interest. I'm still working on getting every parent in my contact list but please keep sharing these newsletters with others in the meantime.
