This innovative program pairs an SCS Connects teacher with an SCS grade-level teacher in a collaboration which provides learning, as well as social/emotional benefits. SCS RESPONSIBLE RESTART COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.
2021-22 KINDERGARTEN FULL DAY REQUESTS

SHS SENIORS FORM “VICTORY IN THE VILLE” TEAM TO SUPPORT THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY
SHS seniors Emma Platten, Julia Spicer, and Max Prok were nominated by SHS staff for the Northern Ohio Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Students of The Year campaign. These three dedicated students form Team Victory in The Ville.
The Students of the Year campaign is a philanthropic leadership development program through which highly motivated, high school leaders embark on a journey of professional growth, ensuring that they stand out when preparing for college and beyond. During the program, students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Student leaders fundraise for LLS in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors. The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidate team in each community that raises the most funds during a 7-week competition.
The 7-week competition runs through Saturday, February 27, 2021. Team Victory in The Ville has a goal to fundraise $75,000 and needs all the help that they can get to achieve or surpass this goal. REMINDER: FREE STUDENT BREAKFAST/LUNCH FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
Thanks to the USDA and Federal Meal Program, breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided at no cost to students through the end of the 2020-21 school year (5/28/21), or until available funding runs out. MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. NANCY HERRON, SPECIAL EDUCATION AIDE AT EARLY LEARNING PRESCHOOL
Mrs. Nancy Herron is a Special Education Aide at our Strongsville Early Learning Preschool. Mrs. Herron has also worked at Drake Elementary during her 24 years of service in our District. Her family has lived in Strongsville for over 30 years and both of her children are Strongsville High School graduates.
“I love seeing our students’ smiling faces and how they work to achieve their goals. Each day is something new. It is fantastic to see their excitement when they learn something new or do something they could not do just the day before! I love being part of the staff at the Early Learning Preschool. Everyone works together - we are a true team,” said Mrs. Herron.

SHS SOPHOMORE SOPHIA KREZE CROWNED INTERNATIONAL UNITED MISS OHIO JUNIOR TEEN
Sophia Kreze, a sophomore at Strongsville High School, was recently crowned as the International United Miss Ohio Junior Teen 2020-2021 in Columbus Ohio. Sophia was selected after a day of interview, personal introduction, and gown competition, where she was 0.38 of a point away from achieving perfect scores across the panel of expert judges. Sophia will be representing Ohio for the next year, and will compete for the International United Miss Junior Teen title in July of 2021 in New Jersey. Sophia is involved in a number of community outreach projects, including the creation of “The Teacher’s Closet” for SCS. This gives Strongsville teachers access to school supplies to assist students during the course of the school year, without using their own funds. Seeing that it has been able to help students already, her goal is to reach out to neighboring districts and start these teacher supply closets in other communities.

Congratulations to the Cleveland Browns on a memorable season! Did you know that there is a Strongsville connection in the Browns front office? Chris Cola (SHS Class of ‘05) is the Facilities Manager for the team’s practice facility in Berea. Chris played football while at SHS, as well as at Heidelberg University. OPT IN FOR TEXT MESSAGES FROM SCS
With the abundance of emails that we all receive on a daily basis, and some being directed to spam or becoming buried in other folders in your email account, it sometimes leaves you without knowing an email was sent. One way to address this issue is to send a text that alerts an email has been sent. Although our texting option is not new for the district, families must opt in to receive our texts. Our Instructional Technology Department and Curriculum Department have partnered in the creation of the 'SCS Tech Corral.' STRONGSVILLE LACROSSE 2021 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Come be a part of America’s fastest growing sport. Strongsville Youth Lacrosse has been growing since 2008 and registration for the 2021 season is now open for boys and girls in 2nd-8th grades. Indoor practices begin mid-February and the outdoor season will run from late March through May. All experience levels welcome. The Junior Browns Spring Flag Football League
The Cleveland Browns, in association with the Strongsville Football Backers, are bringing the Junior Browns Spring Flag Football League to Strongsville! The league is open to girls and boys in grades K-5, with competitive play at each grade level. Practices will be held once per week, with games on Sundays beginning in April. Great Lakes Science Center Learning Lab
Great Lakes Science Center’s new Learning Lab program supports working parents who need daytime childcare for their school-age children. The program provides a safe, supportive environment where children can do their schoolwork virtually. Many of the Science Center’s health and safety procedures for programming during the pandemic were developed for Camp Curiosity, which served more than 1,000 children this summer.
