Why apply?
- Develop skills—leadership, peer education, writing, teamwork, facilitation, advocacy, etc.
- Participation $tipend
- Learn about topics important to you
- Help youth and adults improve adolescent health and knowledge
- Fun swag
- Make new friends across North Carolina!
YAC members commit to attending (Sept. 2021 – May 2022):

- Monthly weekend virtual workshop (1.5-2 hours)

Action: Please share this opportunity with other youth organizations, networks, schools, or individuals who may be interested in joining the YAC. I have attached a flyer and images along with text for your organization to create social media posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram (scroll below email message).
Youth can apply and find more information about the YAC on the SHIFT NC website. Applications are due Friday, July 30th so please circulate for applicants to have enough time. Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview during the week of August 9th.
Feel free reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you and the applicants!

CONSIDER COVID TRACKING/TRACING
Many students have utilized their internship service as their practitioner's COVID surveillance personnel.
Duties could or may include: pre-screening dental or medical patients before their treatments and responsibilities could include responding to text alerts, taking patient temperatures and completing a screening questionnaire with patients prior to check-in. Appropriate PPE would be provide for a position due to COVID and practicing the 3 W's.
Just be reminded that for some, you are AHA First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR Certified...as well as OSHA.
Sell yourself!
NCSU TURTLE TEAM RESCUE
At this time, volunteering in our lab is limited to North Carolina State University Veterinary Students and undergraduates.
However, we are always looking for people to foster a turtle (or two!) through their rehabilitation process. Turtles receiving intensive medical treatment and care stay at our lab during that process. However, once the treatments are complete, many of the turtles are not completely ready to be released into the wild. Thus, we try to find foster homes for the turtles during this recovery phase. By doing so, it not only frees up room in our lab so we can treat more injured and sick turtles, but it also reduces the stress level for the turtle while also receiving more attention and care.
As we head into the summer months, we are in the need of dedicated fosters who will be responsive to our rehab communication. As our rehabber list has not been updated in several years, we are looking to update our list. If you could fill out our Google Form if you are still interested in fostering or releasing with us, we would appreciate it!
Please do not respond to this email, just use the form if you are interested :) 🐢
Thank you!
If you are interested in fostering a turtle, please contact the rehab coordinators at turtlerehabcoordinator@gmail.com and indicate where you live, your experience level with turtles, species preference (i.e. any aquatic turtle, only Painted Turtles…etc), and/or any additional information you think we might find useful (i.e. outdoor pond in backyard…etc.)
