Call to Order - Mr. Jeffrey Wallack, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
President's Welcome - Mr. Wallack welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Recognition Presentations - National Merit Semi-finalists and commended students and the UDHS Art teachers for Outstanding Arts Community honor.
Student Government Representative Report - Isabelle Fishman reported on various events at the high school. Click here to read the full report.
Superintendent's Report - Dr. Laurie Smith, Superintendent, shared her report that included information on the celebrations and special events this month, Monstrous Math Night, Save the Date for an upcoming Celebration of Cultures event, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Performance Measures/Goals, and Comprehensive Planning Update. Public Participation - This opportunity for public participation is for action items and presentations included on the agenda only. Public participation included the following :
- Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent performance measures/goals; and
- Spirit week thank you to Ms. Ashley Martonik, House Principal, UDHS.
Minutes - The September 23, 2024 legislative meeting minutes were approved by the Board.
Education Committee Recommendations - The Board approved the following:
- Professional development conferences; and
- Student activities.
Finance Committee Recommendations - The Board approved the following:
- Routine matters - Treasurer's Report, the list of bill payments, budgetary transfers, and disposal of excess, obsolete, and non-repairable equipment; and
- Agreement for Owner Representative Services for the FWES landscaping project; and
- Donation from the Upper Dublin Soccer Booster Club.
Personnel Committee Recommendations - The Board approved the following:
- Personnel Report inclusive of appointments, resignations, leaves of absence, changes of status, Curriculum leader appointments, mentor appointments, car pool/bus duty appointments, and extracurriculars.
Pupil Services Recommendations - The Board approved the following:
- One (1) Educational Agreement.
The Board approved second reading of the following policies:
- 103 Discrimination/Title IX Sexual Harassment Affecting Students;
- 104 Non-Discrimination in Employment/Contract Practices; and
- 234 Pregnant/Parenting Students.
The Board affirmed the first reading of the following policies:
- 202 Eligibility of Nonresident Students;
- 339 Uncompensated Leave; and
- 803 School Calendar.
Other Recommendations: The Board approved the following:
- Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Performance Measures/Goals for 2024-2025.
Solicitor's Report - Mr. Diasio reported that the Board met in executive session on October 28, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM to discuss the personnel report included on the agenda and a confidential student matter (Item 8B on the agenda).
Public Participation - This opportunity for public participation is for any topic.
- Legislative agenda;
- Transportation facility;
- Upper Dublin Township Zoning Hearing Board attendance;
- Pretzel sales for fundraising;
- Parking along Ft. Washington Avenue;
- Play spaces outside of FWES;
- Traffic concerns at FWES;
- Backpack rule at Sandy Run Middle School (SRMS); and
- Poor playing field conditions for the SRMS field hockey team.
Comments from the Board and/or Superintendent - The Board and Superintendent commented on the following:
- Conditions of the SRMS field hockey playing field; and
- Upper Dublin Township Zoning Hearing Board meeting attendance.
The following informational items were included on the agenda:
- Enrollment Report;
- Liaison Committee Reports;
- Monthly committee meeting approved minutes; and
- Schedule of upcoming meetings.
