HOOVER THEATRE PRESENTS PREMIERE - February 1-2 at 7:00 pm. This student-directed one-act festival features six plays - 3 on each night. The audience will enjoy a variety of shows, with comedy, drama and suspense. Tickets are only $5 per night and can be purchased online or at the door. Come out to support these 8 student directors and their casts and crews.
LEGALLY BLONDE AUDITIONS - OPEN TO ALL HOOVER STUDENTS
The Hoover Performing Arts Department will present the crowd-favorite LEGALLY BLONDE this spring! All roles are open to any ethnicity.
If you are interested in performing, working backstage, or simply learning more, you must attend the LEGALLY BLONDE Mandatory meeting on February 5, from 3:50-4:45 pm in the choir room. Parents are also encouraged to attend.
In addition, you must complete the google form to confirm your attendance. You are not committing to anything except the meeting, so that you will get all the info you need. Auditions will be the week of February 12th. We recommend that you join the google classroom with code: 432ey6c

SENIORS PARTICIPATING IN THE NAEP
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what our nation’s students know and can do in core subjects. For more information, visit http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard.
A random sampling of HHS seniors has been selected to participate in the NAEP test on February 29, 2024. Those seniors and their parents will receive email notification the week of January 23rd. HOOVER AMBASSADORS is accepting applications soon for the 2024-2025 school year! Applications are now available. The Hoover Ambassadors are the official hosts and hostesses of Hoover High School and our surrounding community, serving at many functions throughout the year. 2024-25 COURSE SELECTION GUIDE
We are excited to share our 2024-2025 Course Selection Website and Guide with you. Please mark your calendar to attend our in-person Curriculum Night on Thursday, February 8th at 6:00 p.m. HHS students will receive course selection materials in their CREW classes the week of February 5th. There will be opportunities for students to work with their grade level counselor and teachers to receive guidance in selecting courses for next school year.
ACT TESTING FOR JUNIORS
All juniors will take the ACT with Writing on March 12th. The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions and scholarships. The state of Alabama uses this test to measure college readiness. HHS students are automatically registered for this test through school enrollment. No fee or separate registration is required. ACT subtests include: English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. Students have been preparing for the ACT in all their classes this year. We encourage students to utilize Methodize test prep for practice tests, testing tips, and further study. This information has been given to your student on their Google Classroom. IMPORTANT STUDENT PARKING INFORMATION:
1. All students need to park in their assigned parking space.
2. If you are assigned to park at the baseball field, the parking lot should be cleaned up this afternoon so you should park in your assigned space when you come on campus.
3. If you need a parking space, have an issue with your parking space, or have a question about parking you need to see Ms. Harper in the main office.

ATTENTION SENIORS
FAFSA - Completing the FAFSA OR the FAFSA Non-Participation waiver is a graduation requirement set by the Alabama Board of Education! To meet this requirement, seniors must complete ONE of the below steps ASAP.
1. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.gov).

NURSES INFORMATION
Parents, if your student tests positive for COVID, you may refer to your physician for guidelines.
Hoover City Schools policy states students need to remain at home if they have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication in order to return to school.
Parents, please consider supplying the health room with non-expired over the counter medication for headache, menstrual, stomach and other pains that your student may have while at school. This will allow the nurses to care for your child and keep them at school. An adult may bring medication to the nurses at any time M-F 7:30-3:45.
For prescription medication, a physician will need to sign a prescriber form. The form may be found on HCS website ( Departments-Health-Forms-Parent/prescriber/authorization)

HHS WALK OF FAME enrollment is now open for 2023-2024 for Hoover High School Athletes. The Walk of Fame is an engraved brick paver path located at the entrance of Hoover High School and is dedicated to the memory of our HHS athletes who participate in a school sanctioned sport. HOOVER ESPORTS is beginning its spring season soon! The final day for students to sign up is Wednesday February 7th. They can play popular games such as Super Smash Bros. LUNCH ACCOUNTS - 2023-24 Lunch Schedule
To replenish your child’s lunch account, please send cash or check with your student to pay in the lunchroom, or a secure drop box for lunch payments is located in the Front Lobby. You may also pay online at myschoolbucks.com
STUDENT DELIVERIES - Please remind your student to have all belongings needed for the school day before leaving home. The Front Desk cannot accept personal belongings for students.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS - .
Students will be called for check out between classes only. We will not call a student during instructional time.
Students that drive to school need to be checked out before leaving campus.
For your convenience - Checkouts may be arranged ahead of time. This must be done at the school, in person, by a person (with ID) on the contact list. Prearranged checkouts will be accepted days/weeks ahead to accommodate your student.
For checkouts, the approved adult, who is recorded on the student's information, must report to the attendance desk in person and show their I.D., or have an approved check out through email by 8am*, in order to sign out the student. (This includes students who drive to school.) At no time is it appropriate to text your student and tell them to walk outside without notifying the school.
Students may not check out with a phone call.
*Students may check out with an email from the parent to hhsattendance@hoover.k12.al.us . The email must be received by 8:00 am the day of check out. A copy of the parent’s driver’s license must be attached. The email must include the student’s first and last name, date and time of check out, the reason for check out and a parent signature. The student will be responsible for picking up the check out slip/pass before leaving campus.
Students may check themselves IN anytime. A check in without a proper parent note or doctor note will be entered as unexcused.
All Notes must be turned in within 3 days of the absence – including doctor notes. Parent notes require a parent signature.
We will accept paper notes or you may email the note to hhsattendance@hoover.k12.al.us. If your student attends RC3, this note will also need to be emailed to rc3main@hoover.k12.al.us
Anticipated Absence Forms are available at the Attendance Desk.
STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP - Student Drop Off and Pick Up is located in the front of the school. No other locations are allowed on campus or in nearby neighborhoods. Students being dropped off/picked up in locations that are not permissible will be assigned discipline.

NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED ON CAMPUS - As a reminder, students are not allowed to bring food into school from restaurants. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
BUS INFORMATION - Visit our Transportation webpage to see our Web Query in which you can input your home address. When you enter your home address, your current bus stop information will be displayed. If the results do not show a bus stop for your home address fill out a “TRANSPORTATION REQUEST” form so that a bus stop can be created for your student. Please read this letter which outlines expectations and discipline for bus riders.
