Classroom Highlights
3rd Grade TAG students presented their Titanic Living History presentations to parents and students!
With only 80 school days left first grade took us back to the 80’s!!
Today was the 100th day of school at Folsom!
PreK-4 has come to the conclusion of their Bread Study! We have spent the past six weeks learning all about bread, how it's made, who makes it, and even got to make our own recipes. We celebrated ending this unit by hosting a Family Picnic where students got to make sandwiches with their families and even got to sample the bread that we made in the classroom. We had so much fun during this unit and hope everyone who visited our picnic enjoyed it!
We had an awesome grand opening of Sweetie's Bakery in PreK-3! Our bakers had a very busy morning as they greeted guests, iced cupcakes, served beverages, and ran the register. We had many happy customers and sold out our stock! Sweet memories were made today!
Some of our 4th grade TAG students participated in Noodlemania Trivia competition in Northfield today. We won Fan Dance (thanks Mrs Cavallaro and Anna Rocks!), Most Creative Team Name, and the kids did great!
It smelled like an Italian bakeshop in PreK 3 this week! The students tried vegetable focaccia and Italian bread from Maplewood! They then turned a baguette into garlic bread and finished off the week by making pizza for our Super Bowl party! One more week of this unit and we will be sad to see it end!
Yesterday students in K-8 viewed an assembly titled "Box Out Bullying."
In fourth grade science, students are learning about different types of rocks. Students completed a "Will I Rock at Research" Flyer. Each student completed research on a specific type of rocks. Then presented the information to their class.
Last Friday, as a part of their bread study, PreK4 got to make their very own mini pizzas! The students got dressed in their hats and aprons and were able to watch the dough rise, roll it out, and make either plain or pepperoni pizza. They took a field trip down to the cafeteria where they cooked their pizzas, then created pizza day hats, worked on some pizza themed activities, made a list of words that started with the letter P and then finally enjoyed their pizzas for lunch.
On Tuesday, Kindergarten students took a field trip to Bagliani's Food Market!
Folsom School's Spelling Bee went on for 32 rounds of stiff competition. These spellers were prepared and ready to rock. Sixth grader Ellie Mlinarcik came in third place, followed by 7th grader Ben Brinkman in second. Gabe Slowinski (8th grade) made a repeat win this year. Congratulations to all our spellers who really showed their skills today. They should BEE complimented.
