Off To A Great Start!
Hello North Families!
We had an amazing first two days of school and were excited to welcome students back with bubbles, positive chalk messages on the walkway, a Somerset Police Department presence (along with Raider, of course), and music. Students were already learning classroom routines and getting acclimated to new bus routes at dismissal by day two. On Tuesday we will welcome our Kindergarteners and Preschoolers for their first day of school. Our theme for this school year is Every Day Counts! This means that we are emphasizing how important it is that students are with us at North every day that they are healthy (or don't have appointments). As a staff we are taking advantage of every single day to help students learn and grow!
Important Upcoming Dates
- September 2: No School
- September 3: First day for Kindergarten and Preschool
- September 11: Back to School Night (5:30-7:30 pm)

Fun Run Sponsors
North PTO is looking for Sponsors for our 2024 Fun Run. The price of T-Shirts continues to grow, and sponsors greatly help with defraying the out-of-pocket cost. Logos will be placed on the back of the T-Shirts worn by students and staff on the day of the run and other events throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to support our school and advertise for your business at the same time!
Large logo - $500, Small logo - $250, Business/Family Name - $100. Please email northpto1@gmail.com if interested.
News from the Health Office
A few reminders from Nurse Stephanie in our Health Office to help keep all of our students safe and healthy:
Students with active vomiting, diarrhea, open rashes, crusty/inflamed eyes, and/or temperature > 100 are asked to remain home from school.
Students may return from school when their temperature is < 100 for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
Illness Specific:
Strep: Must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school. Students need a note to return.
Pink eye: Must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.
Hand Foot Mouth: Fever-free for 24 hours and no open skin lesions. All areas must be scabbed/closed over
Vomiting/Diarrhea: May return when tolerating good amounts of food/water and no vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours
Please do not send medication to school in your child’s backpack. Anything with an active ingredient is designated a medicine in school. This includes cough syrup, cough drops, ointments, nasal sprays, vitamin gummies, etc. If you would like to have any medications available for your child at school, please notify the Health Office.
Students after surgery, for hurt or broken limbs, sprains, strains, or any student with assistive devices (splints, casts, boots, crutches, etc.) must have a note to be in school as well as MD clearance or restrictions for recess/PE.
Please notify the Health Office if your child has RSV, Covid, Influenza, or Strep.
Grade 4 physicals are due to be updated! Please send in your student’s most recent physical if you have not done so already.

Tiger Beat Newsletter Feedback
Tiger Beat is meant to be a weekly one-stop shop for families to access important dates, information, and reminders. I also use it to share photos so that you can get a window into North each week. Whether you were with us last year or if this is your first edition of the newsletter, if you have any ideas about how Tiger Beat can be improved, please use the linked Google Form to let me know.
