Rehearsal Permission Slips Due Friday

Families of 4th-6th graders are cordially invited to this year’s Winter Vocal Music Concert, Holiday at the Movies!

All family and friends are welcome to join us at the Fraser High School Auditorium to enjoy lovely music presented by Grades 4th, 5th, and 6th on Thursday, November 21st 2024. Admission is free.

Students are expected to be at Fraser High School at 6:30pm to warm-up for our concert at 7:00pm.

Concert attire: Students may dress as a character from one of the Holiday movies we are singing, have Santa hats/holiday hats, a nice dress, or nice pants and shirt/sweater. Students should follow the school dress code for their outfit choice.

On the morning of the concert, students will be bussed to the Fraser High School Auditorium to practice for our concert at 9:15am and arrive back to Edison Elementary around 10:45am.

Please make sure to fill out the permission slip (linked below) to ensure all students can practice with us the morning of the concert. Return by Friday, November 15th.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Mrs. Esquible. Student attendance is taken prior to the concert, so please also notify Mrs. Esquible if there is a conflict/reason your student may not be able to attend.

Canvas Learning Management System

All students, grades Young 5s-12 use Canvas, a learning management system. Classroom teachers use Canvas to provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments for students, as well as parent communication.

Parents are encouraged to set up a parent/observer account to stay abreast of student learning. Canvas will allow parents to:

  • Contact their child’s teacher
  • View grades, due dates, and events
  • See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
  • Support an absent student
  • View classroom and building announcements

Downloadable directions are linked below. In addition, helpful videos and walk-throughs may be found linked HERE.

If you have any trouble at all, please reach out to Edison's Media Clerk, Steve Belz at Steven.Belz@fraserk12.org or Kim Keith at kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org..

Dress For The Weather Dress For The Weather

zoom_out_map

Ready or Not- The Cold Weather Is Coming!

Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Before we know it, students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the fall/winter.

Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season

Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.

Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons

Please Do Not Park/Idle/Stop in Marked Areas

  • Please adhere to our 5mph speed limit in our parking lot. We've recently received several reports of cars driving too fast in the parking lot at arrival/dismissal time. Please drive slowly and use caution!

  • We do not have crossing guards for our parking lot. Our Y5-2 students must be accompanied by an adult through the parking lot. However, it is highly recommended that all parents park their cars and walk up to retrieve their students to escort them through the lot at dismissal time.

  • Unfortunately, we don’t have a “bus loop” at Edison, which also limits our ability for a curbside drop off/pick up lane. Our transportation department needs us to stop stopping/parking/idling in the areas marked with a red 'x' (essentially, every turn/curve of the lot) because the busses cannot get through.

  • Please park in a designated parking spot at arrival and dismissal, while you wait to drop off/pick up your children.

  • All Y5-2nd grade students must be picked up by an adult at their doors.

  • 3rd-6th grade students are dismissed out their doors and may navigate the parking lot as their parents see fit. Please note, our staff does our best to help kids cross when possible, but we do not have designated crossing guards in our lot. The safest option will always be for parents to park, walk up, drop off/retreive their child(ren), and navigate the lot with their child(ren).

  • At dismissal time, please don’t sit idle in driving lane while waiting for your student.

Attendance

Your child's lifelong school/work attendance habits are being deeply established right now. Parents should make every effort to get their child to school by 8:30AM each day and allow them to stay for the full duration of every day. Excessive absences, tardies, and early dismissals hugely impact a child's confidence, social interactions, and school performance.

Birthday Treats

Birthday students may bring store-bought, individually wrapped treats/snacks or trinkets to distribute to their classmates to be taken home. Please do not send in a tray of cupcakes, homemade baked goods, pizza, etc intending for them to be consumed at school- as many students have dietary restrictions that need to be closely monitored by their parents & school staff. All treats/trinkets will be sent home with students.

Cell Phones

Parents- We will definitely need your ongoing help and reinforcement with this one! Cell phones need to be silenced/powered down and secured in student backpacks from 8:30AM-3:30PM. Students may utilize cell phones before or after school hours. Students may not record or photograph others on school property or on school-provided transportation.

Hot Food Deliveries

Please do not plan to drop off "hot lunches" for your child at lunch time. This includes parents/family members dropping off fast food and/or Door Dashing food for their children. It is very logistically challenging to ensure that your child receives the food delivery on time and often results in students spending much of their lunch period awaiting a delivery.
