Week in Review and A Look Ahead:
Friday, February 23, 2024
Principal's Message
Our 8th graders end their traditional classes about two weeks before the end of the school year and begin their 8th Grade Community Project, which will conclude on the second to last day of school. This right of passage is an exciting time for our 8th graders and more information will be pushed out in the upcoming weeks regarding this initiative. Our 6th and 7th graders will be starting their last round of art, tech ed, or business/ health rotations next week. New schedules will be printed for them and can also be accessed on the IC Portal.
Information on conferences is noted below as well as the final reminder to sign up for our popular Bear-A-Thon. 7th grade health screenings are also included along with instructions on the BASD Parent/ Guardian survey that is opening up to our families. Students will take their survey on the morning of March 1 unless a parent elects to opt their child out of the survey.
Winter Conferences and Sign-up Link
Winter Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, from 4:30-7:30PM. Conferences may be in-person or virtual. Our sign-up link will be active starting at 5PM on February 23 and closing on March 1 at 5PM. Please click HERE to access the sign-up Genius to schedule conferences if you wish.

BASD 2024 Climate and Culture Parent/Guardian Survey
Earlier this week, we shared a letter regarding our 2024 Climate and Culture Survey. Since then, we have added the survey questions to our website at www.boyertownasd.org.
The parent/guardian survey opens today and will be available for completion through Friday, March 8. While not required, we encourage you to complete a separate survey for each of your children, as your responses may vary based on your children’s individual experiences. To access your survey, please visit Family Climate and Culture Survey
Please note that your child(ren) in grades 3-12 will be completing the appropriate grade-level survey in school on Friday, March 1.
BASD will use the feedback from the survey to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement and will provide invaluable insights on how we can better meet stakeholder needs. Thank you for partnering with us to meet the needs of our learners and prepare them to succeed in a changing world!
Bear-A-Thon 2024 Registration is Open
Bear-A-Thon registration is happening now! Bear-A-Thon will be held on Friday, March 15th. It is a day filled with games, food, prizes, and a ton of fun! As a school, we are raising money to support our own community through the United Way of Boyertown Area.
All details and the registration form can be found here. Money and registration forms are due to homeroom teachers by Tuesday, February 27th. At Bear-A-Thon, we have snacks/desserts to go with pizza at dinner. If you’d like to send in a snack/dessert item, please use this sign-up genius to sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Young at jyoung@boyertownasd.org.

We had two place winners: Liam Vance 3rd place at 87 pounds and Griffin Kaczerski 4th place at 210 pounds. We ended our season with an overall dual meet record of 17-3. Congratulations to all members of the team on a great season!
YAG Welcomes Guest Speaker
Former state representative Marcy Toepel was a guest speaker for the Youth and Government Club this week. She shared her experiences working in the House of Representatives and even had the students participate in a debate on an open air bill she had passed into law while serving in office. The students learned a lot and asked many great questions. The Youth and Government Club was very appreciative of this opportunity to hear from Representative Toepel. The club will be participating in a Model Government Convention in the state Capitol this spring.
