Principal's Message
Good evening Mira Loma Families,
Our fourteenth week of school was highlighted by two of our students presenting at the San Juan Unified School District Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 19th! Junior, Georgia Klostrakis, and Senior, Lucas Firl, both presented at the SJUSD Board Meeting this week, providing district staff and the public in attendance with a wonderful overview of the amazing aspects of Mira Loma High School this school year. Both Georgia and Lucas did an outstanding job representing Mira Loma. Thank you to both of you!
Additionally, on Tuesday of this week, our Student Government class delivered food to representatives of the Carmichael Presbyterian Church during 4th period as part of our Fall Canned Food Drive. Our Student Government students did an amazing job leading the Canned Food Drive and it was a pleasure to see them working together for the good of our community. Great job Student Government students!
On Wednesday of this week, our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Global Art Students visited the Uprooted exhibit at the California Museum and learned about the Japanese internment camps. Students and staff were very fortunate to have two art docents guide them through the exhibit. Both docents interned in camps as children and shared many stories of their lived experiences. It was a very impactful trip for our students and staff who attended. Research conducted at the museum is assisting our MYP Global Art Students with a current project. These works will be showcased at our Asian Culture Festival in January. Thank you to Mrs. Char, Mr. Stinson, and Mr. Ashwell for making this trip possible for our Global Art Students!
We encourage families to continue to have discussions with your children about school safety and how to report if they have knowledge of a concern. Recently, our administration has seen an increase in communication from students and families when concerns are noticed, allowing us to intervene and resolve issues before they can escalate. This partnership is essential in keeping our campus safe. Please see the yellow “Safety First” icon below for additional information about how to report a concern. We look forward to continuing our conversations about school safety and growing our partnerships with students and families, in an effort to keep our campus safe.
Our Winter Sports season is upon us with Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, and Wrestling all beginning competitive action this week! I would like to take this opportunity to thank athletes, coaches, and parents for dedicating your time and energy to representing our school in a positive manner and we look forward to your partnership during the Winter Sports season. Your commitment and participation is much appreciated and valued!
Thank you for your partnership and dedication to Mira Loma High School and I wish you all a safe and wonderful break this coming week!
Sincerely,
Kaden Bahner
