Beginning June 7, 2024 for STAAR end-of-course assessments and June 14, 2024 for STAAR grades 3–8 assessments, you will be able to access your child’s STAAR results by logging into the district parent portal or the Family Portal on the Texas Assessment website. (Click on the link above for detailed instructions.)

The human brain goes through two periods of extreme change and development: infancy to age five and adolescence. In this presentation, students learned how their personal choices in self-care, behavior, and relationships can impact the brain form and function as well as their life satisfaction and success outcomes. They also explored strategies and practices to increase their resilience to navigate the challenges and adversity they face daily.

A special thank you to The Grant Halliburton Foundation for their presentation to our students! We love our CJH kiddos and want them to THRIVE! This starts with conversations to understand their brain and how it works! So thankful to be a part of this opportunity!!

Canton Rotary Club Students of the Month for CJH are 6th grader, Ingrid Lopez and 8th Grader, Broxton Pemberton. Ingrid is involved in Choir and Pre-Athletics on our campus and Broxton is part of the CJH Band and Athletic teams. Their teachers report very positive things about them in the classroom and on campus. Congratulations to Ingrid and Broxton!

Gustavo Perez is an 8th grader at CJH and has been a student within CISD since Pre-K. His parents are Dolores Perez and Margarita Venegas. His favorite subject is History. Gustavo likes riding his bicycle when he has free time. Something interesting about Gustavo is that he speaks some Spanish. His teachers and the staff at CJH think that he is a great young man. We are so thankful for Gustavo and proud to honor him as the CISD Student of the Week for CJH. Congratulations!

Kristin Willis is the Employee of the Month for May! Mrs. Willis is a 7th grade math teacher who has worked at CISD for 7 years. She graduated from Canton High School and then Adams State in Alamosa, CO. Mrs. Willis said what she enjoys most about her job is giving students confidence in math and making students feel like they have a safe space in her classroom. Well done, Mrs. Willis!

Shown above, CHS scholarship winner, Georgia Crayton, named Mrs. Willis as the teacher who has impacted her the most. Mrs. Willis was recognized by Meghan Reily with Cooperative Teachers Credit Union.

Congratulations to our very own Coach Luce. He teaches Outdoor Education at CJH and is a High School coach most recently coaching our baseball team to another year in the playoffs. He was named the District Coach of the Year!
