Office of the Principal...Mark Schroeder
EHS Families,
I want to extend a huge thank you to all parents who have helped out with either Prom or TEACHER APPRECIATION this past few months. Prom was a great experience for kids! I also want to thank the entire Post-Prom Committee, specifically Carrie Kubicek, Angela Bang and their team, as their transition from Prom to Post Prom was seamless and kids had a great time. Also, the week of May 5th-9th, NHS will be celebrating our staff with meals and the like due to generous donations from EHS families - thank you for your support both now and all year!
With under 4 weeks to go, and prom in the books, this is always the time of year I would encourage parents to really reiterate to kids how important it will be to finish the school year strong. This team of kids has navigated this year so well, and I always want to work to help students avoid a ‘summer slide’ during the month of May. I know your conversations with your students go a long way in helping counter that phenomenon.
I was extremely proud of the focus shown by our 9th, 10th and 11th graders during ACT and Pre-ACT testing day on April 8th. It was clear that our students took the test very seriously and gave the tests their best efforts. Thank you for reinforcing high expectations for the ACT tests and valuing high school and post-secondary education. Your conversations and expectations matter. I am sure at times as a parent, you may feel like your kids don’t always listen to you… trust me, your messages make a difference! We will work to get student results back as soon as they are in!
EHS 9th-11th grade students will be dismissed early on both finals testing days in May. On Thursday, May 22nd, students will be dismissed at 12:55 after taking finals in periods 1,2, 3 and 4. On Friday, May 23rd, students will be dismissed at 11:45 after completing finals in periods 5,6, and 7. Please note that no lunches are served on these final two days of school.
EHS Seniors will take finals during 5th-7th periods on Tues. 5/13 and 1st-4th periods on Weds. 5/14. After this, we will conduct our Graduation Walk Through around 12:30 at the Stadium on 5/14 after which time they will pick up their cap and gowns.
In order to ensure test security and that all students are prepared for finals, early finals are not permitted. Please work as best you can to schedule family trips and appointments around these dates to ensure we can have as strong of a finish to the semester as possible.
On behalf of the staff here at EHS, I’d like to thank all of you for sharing your children with us this year. Your partnership is invaluable to our success as a school district and we are fortunate to have such a supportive community. Your dedication as parents, our students’ commitment to excellence, and our teachers’ passion for teaching and learning has created a wonderful year full of accomplishments and memories. I am proud to have served you and your students this year at EHS and I look forward to many great years ahead. Thank you and please have a safe and relaxing summer. I will be at the school the majority of the summer, save for a few weeks in July. Please feel free to call my office or email if we can be of assistance at the end of the year or over the summer break.

Mental Wellness and Phone Numbers:
Please know that we are thinking about your student and the transitions that occur in high school that may present as challenges to your student. Continue to ask questions and be a good listener when you are communicating with your student. When your student is struggling, unsure, anxious or feeling overwhelmed, being fully present and asking questions that can guide your decision making will help you in your next steps.
Here are some tips for talking with your child:
Be honest Be concise Be reassuring Normalize his or her feelings
Remember the four T’s (talk, touch, tears and time)
