We are excited to let you know that Falcon Zone Community Closet and Pantry has been selected as a December 2024 and January 2025 beneficiary of the King Soopers Fight Hunger bag program. You helped raise $208 in December and I know we can earn even more in January!
We receive a $1 donation for every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger bag sold at our Falcon King Soopers!

Bring in your gently used or new shoes and help fundraise for the Falcon Zone Community Closet and Pantry!
Shoes will be donated to Funds2Orgs and we will get paid to collect gently worn, used and new shoes in a creative, community-friendly fundraiser!
What happens to the shoes?
A shoe drive fundraiser goes beyond raising money for your cause and community. After your shoes are picked up, they’re sent to developing countries to create job opportunities.
It’s estimated 300 million people don’t own shoes. Shoe drive fundraisers help provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families. In turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up, not a handout.
Drop Boxes will be located at all 6 Falcon Zone schools, JAKs Brewing, The State Bank and the D49 Transportation Center.
Empowering Moments

Stay tuned for 2 more Finalists next week!
Over the next several weeks, be watching this section for features on our Falcon Zone finalists! Each of these awesome educators have been selected as National Finalists for the National Modern Learning Conference, taking place this coming February. As a finalist, they had to submit a 2-minute video summarizing all that they do to impact teaching and learning in their classrooms and schools.

Donna and Amy (BRES) - Donna and Amy are just so sweet at the front desk. It is always a pleasure to see them when i pick up my kids early, or, to just let them know about an absence. They are always so happy and genuinely care about each child and their family.
MaryBeth Spurlock & Kadie Murray (BRES) - They both go above & beyond for their class.
Shelby Esquivel (BRES) - Shelby is such an amazing teammate. Not only does she go above and beyond for her students, but she also goes above and beyond for the members of her team. She is an excellent mentor in more ways than one.
Alexis Hoffman (BRES) - Alexis has been doing some amazing work with student council in addition to her own work in her classroom. She is always bringing a positive attitude and a fun spirit every time she walks in the building. She also provides great support for her teammates.
Crystal Pecic (BRES) - Crystal has one of the more difficult jobs at BRES. However, she executes her duties with grace and understanding. She is always willing to provide support and guidance, even when she is being pulled in so many different directions. She is such a great asset to BRES.
Martina Meadows (BRES) - Martina is such a breath of fresh air at BRES. Her light hearted personality and caring attitude are always on display. She works hard daily to make students and staff feel safe, seen, comfortable and welcome. She is such a wonderful person and administrator, BRES is so lucky to have her.
Lori Bradford (MRES) - A huge thank you to Mrs. Bradford, 4th grade at MRES. Although she is not my child's teacher this year, her impact has been tremendous! She consistently recognizes when my child needs some extra love and attention, and always welcomes my child and other students into her classroom for "morning chat" and a check-in. I hope she knows how much this means to us. Teaching is more than just reading and math; it's love, and she shows it abundantly. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Jason Mascotti (WHES) -Mr. Jason goes above and beyond his job duties and lends a helping hand when a need arises. Thanks for all your help at Woodmen Hills!
Kara Robinson (WHES) -Kara shows up and serves in every aspect of our school. During the craziness of the winter storms last week Kara jumped in when she saw we needed help with checkouts in the front office. I appreciate Kara and the leadership she brings to the FMS team.
One Zone, One Book - The Wild Robot
This month, our entire school community is kicking off a beloved tradition: our annual all-school book club, One Zone, One Book! We’re excited to invite your family to be part of this shared reading experience.
Through the One Zone, One Book family literacy project, students across all grade levels will be reading and discussing the same book. Research shows that reading aloud materials beyond a child’s typical reading level enriches their language skills, and we believe reading chapter books with your older children continues to be valuable, even if they can read independently.
"The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown is a heartwarming story about a robot named Roz, who finds herself stranded on a remote, wild island after a shipwreck. Alone and out of place, Roz learns to survive by observing and adapting to the behaviors of the island’s animals. Over time, she gains the animals' trust, learns about friendship, and even becomes a mother figure to a young gosling she adopts. Through her journey, Roz discovers her purpose and identity, blending themes of empathy, resilience, and the intersection between nature and technology. It’s an adventure filled with life lessons for readers of all ages.

Thanks to Breanna Ballard, Vocational Health Nurse Instructor at FHS, Over 170 students from Falcon High School (FHS) Health Academy recently engaged in UCHealth’s Healthy Hearts and Minds program, gaining vital knowledge about cardiac health and its impact on overall wellness. The comprehensive curriculum included lessons on heart anatomy, genetic risk factors, physical activity, nutrition, the dangers of tobacco and vaping, stress management, and the identification of heart attacks and strokes. Participants also learned essential life-saving skills, including CPR, and had the opportunity to receive cholesterol, body mass index (BMI), and blood pressure checks at no cost, with HIPAA-compliant parental consent.
The mission of UCHealth’s Healthy Hearts and Minds reflects a commitment to promoting heart health education among young individuals. Carolynn Butts, the Coordinator of Community Programs for UCHealth Healthy Hearts and Minds, stated,“We improve lives through research and education, empowering youth to practice heart-healthy habits that prevent cardiovascular disease.”
The program tracked student learning through pretests and posttests, illustrating significant improvements in understanding. This educational initiative has had a positive impact on many students with several committing to healthier lifestyle choices. One student noted, “It was very interesting to learn that I should be eating a lot more fruit than I originally thought. So, I’m gonna try to eat more fruits and veggies.”
