Volunteer Opportunity
Drive to Succeed
The Licking County Health Department has a Drive to Succeed program intended to increase access to driving school to young drivers in Licking County regardless of economic status. LCHD can provide vouchers for eligible students to complete driving school at low-cost ($10.00 fee) through Licking Valley Driving School. Students must be located in the county and be between the ages of 16-17 at enrollment and complete the training before their 18th birthday. Eligibility requirements for the program are provided in the attached application.
In regard to sharing the application and flyer, you can do this in any way you see fit for your school. We simply want students to be aware of the program we offer, and we would like to provide them with easier access to the application. The application and flyer could be shared electronically or on paper in your school. I would recommend that completed applications be submitted directly to LCHD by individual students/families as the vouchers for this program are provided on a first come first serve basis.
The completed application, proof of permit, and proof of student eligibility can be printed and mailed to LCHD, printed and dropped off to LCHD, or emailed to dts@lickingcohealth.org. This information is provided in more detail at the bottom of the application. Any questions the families or students may have can also be directed to dts@lickingcohealth.org.

Parent Square - Attendance
Daily Attendance Notifications
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to introduce a new and efficient way of keeping you informed about your child’s attendance at school. Northridge has activated the School Attendance feature in ParentSquare. We believe this change will benefit you and your children.
Daily Attendance Notifications
Through ParentSquare, you will receive a prompt notification informing you of your child’s school absences. These notifications will help you stay up-to-date, ensuring you are notified if your student is not present at school. Northridge will send the notifications in both voice and text formats.
Attendance Notes from Parents and Guardians
One of the key benefits of this feature is that it allows you to send attendance notes back to the school through the Parent Square app if your student is absent. This feature significantly reduces the need for phone calls to the school and makes it more convenient for you to communicate important information about your child’s absence. Parents and guardians may still call the main office and send in a written note to notify us of an absence, but most will find using the Parent Square platform more convenient. The reason for the student’s absence must be reported to the school within two days, per district policy.
We are confident that utilizing this tool will significantly enhance communication, making it easier for you to stay informed about your student’s attendance.

Northridge Football Honors Former Football Player from Edison High School
The Northridge Football program and community would like to present this Navy flag to the Edison Football program with deep appreciation of the sacrifice made by one of their former players, #27 Maxton “Max” Moberg, who was one of 13 U.S. service members killed in the line of duty from an ISIS-K suicide bombing attack at Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 26, 2021. Exciting Opportunity with Ariel Corporation
We are kicking off the recruiting season for Ariel Corporation's 2025 High School Manufacturing Fundamentals Program. This paid program will run from January - May during a student's senior year.
Your students will learn from several of our manufacturing departments including heavy equipment assembly, precision machining, and multi-craft maintenance, as well as the interpersonal and professional skills they'll need to succeed in the modern workplace.
This is a big opportunity for students to "get their foot in the door" at one of the largest manufacturers in the Knox County area, and potentially join Ariel as a summer intern and full-time employment in the fall. Ariel also has a state-recognized Apprenticeship Program in Heavy Equipment Assembly, Precision Machining, and Multi-Craft Maintenance.
We will wrap up our 2025 recruiting season with our Fall Open House, where we open the doors of the Ariel Training Center to students and their parents/guardians to see what a career here could look like. This year's Fall Open House will be on Tuesday, October 15th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
If your child is interested, please contact Mrs. Badgett, School Counselor, at abadgett@northridgevikings.org
Honor Flight Opportunity
Our organization flies senior Veterans to Washington DC at no cost to them, to see their memorials. Every Veteran is paired with a Guardian who spends the day honoring them and listening to their stories. It is an amazing opportunity for our community to not only thank our Veterans, but get to know their life experiences.
The High School Guardian Program is a unique opportunity for juniors and seniors to be part of this initiative. Our program is being updated for 2025 and we are asking students to apply directly to us where we will then interview and select candidates to fly with us for the Spring season. This is paid for by our organization. We will equip them for this responsibility and ensure they are prepared to take on this role. I am attaching the program description to this email. The deadline for applications is October 4, 2024. You can find the links below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email or call me.
Thank you for all you do for the next generation. I hope to work together to bring our community closer together as we serve our nation’s senior Veterans.

Our Busy School
Focus and Attention
We are working hard to try to develop the skill of Focus and Attention at NHS. Our teachers are using collaborative skills and networking with students in hopes to increase academic successes with our students. We actively utilize our Connect period to work EXTRA with your children and provide possible extensions to lessons in the classroom. Our Building Leadership Team have designed a student survey that we give weekly to analyze what teaching strategies the students think are most effective and what barriers they have to focused learning opportunities. We will utilize this data to create better designed instructional plans for our students.
FREE BREAKFAST AND FREE LUNCH!
- We are excited to announce that we will be offering FREE breakfast and lunch to all students district-wide regardless of their free or reduced lunch status! This is a very exciting opportunity for the families of Northridge. We still need all families to fill out the free/reduced application not only to make this program a success, but because it also affects other funding for our school.
- We will be stationed right inside the middle school doors each morning, as well as at both entrances of the high school for breakfast. The students will have an opportunity to grab their breakfast items and take items with them to their classrooms. Elementary students will come to the cafeteria as they arrive at school each morning and have breakfast in the cafeteria.
- Northridge Café will continue to be a cashless system this year. We will not be accepting cash. We will accept checks through the lunch line but parents are encouraged to visit our website and take the time to register your child on payschoolscentral.com. This allows you to take advantage of adding money to their lunch accounts electronically, and also completing the Free/Reduced lunch application. There is a link to this site on the Northridge Schools website. You will need your child’s student ID number to get started. This number can be found on their schedule. Students will only need money on their accounts for snacks, drinks and extras.
- If your child has any special dietary allergies or concerns, we MUST receive documentation from your child’s doctor and have it on file with the school nurse in order to be able to make substitutions to our menu. There will be a form available upon request that can be provided to the doctor and returned to the school.
- Once you have added money to your child’s account, please allow up to 24 hours for the funds to be available to your child. Please do not expect money to be available as soon as you add funds to their account. Check their accounts regularly. You are also able to set up a feature for auto-replenish and to receive low-balance notices.
- Our lunch menu can be accessed here
- Free/Reduced lunch applications will be available at each school office but we encourage you to use the Northridge website and apply online from the link.
- Snacks, drinks, and extras are available to purchase, and the cost ranges between $1.25-$2.25. These items can not be charged. Money must be available on a student's account to be able to purchase these items.
- If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to contact me email or phone. My email address is: clewis1@laca.org, office number is (740) 966-3275
