Fast Fashion
Students in Mrs. Karpuz's Advanced Environmental Sustainability classes teamed up with Mrs. Haye's classes to explore and present their findings about fast fashion. Students even held a fashion show of their own personally crafted items to support reuse.
Hearing from a professional
As part of the fast fashion show students were able to hear from 2019 Watkins alum Jenson Johnson about her job with the Hollister company. She shared her insights regarding how fast fashion impacts the industry.
Ms. German's 6th grade Math
Students finished a Geometry project in which they graphed coordinates to create a net. Then, they cut out the net and folded it to create three-dimensional shapes. By the end of the project, they found the area, perimeter, and volume and classified the shape.
Whats the probability?
Students in Ms. Koehl’s math classes are finishing up a unit on Probability, focusing on the difference between theoretical (what should happen) and experimental (what does happen) probabilities. They also competed using dice in a March madness style competition of probability.
Math 8
In Mr. Murawski’s 8th Grade Math classrooms, students on St. Patrick’s Day solved some themed picture puzzles which challenged them to apply algebraic thinking skills to solve. For these puzzles, pictures represent unknown values instead of letters.
Oreo's are the best
To introduce data measurements the students in Mrs. Shipley’s class collected data by stacking Oreos. They worked together to find the mean, median, and mode of their team data and class data.
