There are only two more Walking Wednesday's this school year. Today is one of them. Join one of the six groups walking to school and you will arrive with good company and feel fresh and ready for school. Here are some other reasons to participate:

• Collect a free pencil and sticker
• You will be eligible to win a recess ball for your learning community
• You can meet the director of Local Motion, the organization that has supplied our school with bicycles for years. She will be walking with the group from Taylor Park and she will be available at the check-in area when the walk is over.

We hope to see you this morning.

This Friday, May 31st, will be the last day for the school store.

A group of 4th and 5th grade Voyagers were given a box! They needed to find the volume and surface area of their box. They then needed to create a "product" for their box and make a commercial to sell it, ensuring they stated their box's volume and surface area. The final results are amazing!

The City School Cadets that have been trained by former teacher, Mr. Kregg Kittell, took part in the annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Taylor Park. 5-27-2024

All the 4-6th graders were invited to a dance on Friday evening, 5-24-2024. Those not inclined to dance could play various ball games in the large gym. The 'Dance' was well attended with sharply dressed student ready to dance, sing and play various party games. Check out the pictures below.

Gardening/Paper Quilling is an Open Doors group run by Ms. Moss and Ms. Norris. Last week students put together and flew kites.

The climate committee has had a fun year working together and meeting frequently. At the last meeting, students enjoyed pizza and a special climate decorated cake baked by one of the committee members and her mom. The Climate Committee will reconvene next school year.

5-28-2024

This is an invitation to students, family members and staff to walk or bike in to school on June 5th, the last Walking Wednesday of the school year. In years past we have had over 400 students participate. Note that the buses will run as usual. We just hope that they will be almost empty on that day. Families, we hope you will consider walking with your students that day rather than driving them to school. Hope for good weather.

There will be a few raffle prizes for participants

• A free bike tune-up at bootlegger bikes
• A special t-shirt

The trip is scheduled for Thursday, June 6th. Sixth graders, to whet your appetite for the trip, here are a few videos from previous trips.

Mt. Calvary Cemetery

Team USA in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will be co-hosting a flag retirement ceremony. We have numerous boxes of old flags that have been prepared by students for a proper retirement. This is a solemn and dignified event. Ceremonies to retire a flag can differ from each other. The short ceremony will include a few words shared by the veterans, pledge of allegiance, taps, and an honor guard with a three rifle volley. The rifles will be fired as a part of the ceremony. There will be a fire onsite to dispose of the flags. The ashes will be buried the following day.

Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at Team USA.

June 24th - August 16th

The Champlain Valley Fair has partnered with Libraries around the state to promote reading. St. Albans Free Library is one of those librarys. Students who read three books over the summer can qualify for a free 1-day pass to the fair, a coupon for a $5 ice cream, and a free book.
