TUSD Family Resource Centers- November 2024
Family Resource Center services are available to TUSD students and their families, free of charge. Please call the center to register for classes. Childcare is available to TUSD students and siblings for most classes. Please inform staff of the need for childcare when you register. Include the number of children, ages, and any special needs. Interpreter services are available. Please inform staff of the need for an interpreter when you register. Please register at least two weeks in advance if interpreter services are needed.

Events
Jacket Party
Join us for our annual Jacket Party! We will give away gently used jackets, sweaters, and hoodies to help you stay warm this winter. This free event is open to students enrolled in Tucson Unified School District. A variety of sizes and styles will be available while supplies last. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your nearest center. Please have your student’s name, school name, grade, birth date, and student ID number (if known) so we can serve you quickly.

Thanksgiving Holiday Share
It's time for the Family Resource Centers annual Thanksgiving Holiday Share. TUSD families are invited to receive a thanksgiving food box (turkey and side dishes) to prepare a full meal.
When: Saturday, Nov. 23, | 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Where: Palo Verde High School Main Parking Lot | 1302 S. Avenida Vega
One free food box per TUSD family, while supplies last.

TUSD Turkey Dive
Join us in spreading joy this Thanksgiving! We are hosting a turkey drive to support families through TUSD's Family Resource Centers. Your generous turkey donations will provide families with a warm meal.

Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood Sweater Drive
We are excited to share an opportunity to make a difference in our community! Join us in supporting the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Sweater Drive, which honors the legacy of kindness that Fred Rogers embodied. This initiative helps children and their families access warm clothing during the colder months. Your generous donations will benefit TUSD students at the Family Resource Centers to provide warmth and comfort to those in need.
When: October 13 - November 13
What to Donate: Clean, gently worn sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, and sneakers for children and adults. New items are also accepted and much appreciated.

English Class for Adults- Presented by Literacy Connects
The Family Resource Centers have partnered with Literacy Connects to provide free Adult English classes for parents, guardians, or caregivers of TUSD registered students. English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELLA) helps parents learn and improve their English language skills. ELAA students come from more than 70 countries and have educational levels that vary from college graduates to those who do not read and write in their native language. All are welcome.

Guiding Good Choices- Presented by the Children's Advocacy Center
STEP is a five-week program for parents and caregivers with children aged 9-14. You will learn to promote healthy habits, set guidelines, manage conflicts, and strengthen family bonds. Attendance is important, as each week builds on the lessons from the previous week. Program materials and incentives valued at over $75 will be offered. Kith & Kin Project- Presented by Candelen (SPANISH Class)
Candelen offers one of the most extensive support programs for family (kin), friend, and neighbor (kith) childcare, which is one of the country’s most common forms of caregiving. It usually includes relatives, friends, neighbors, and other adults caring for children in their home. Study Smart Tutors
Study Smart Tutoring strives to prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success. Through the Achievement Tutoring program, we can support students with math and reading schoolwork.
