Last week, Mrs. Jenkins, Ms. Deming, Mr. Armstrong, and I attended the annual San Bernardino County Superintendent of School's PBIS Showcase, where Eagle Canyon was recognized for our second Platinum Award, the highest recognition a school can earn for its implementation of PBIS practices. This recognition represents our community's daily work to create a positive school climate where students know the expectations and can take risks in their learning in a safe learning environment.

We would love to celebrate this award with you and teach everyone about PBIS at Wednesday's PBIS Family Night. There will be pizza, Bingo, and lots of prizes. If you haven't done so, please RSVP today so we can ensure we have plenty of food for everyone. The QR code to RSVP is below.

THINKNLOCAL FUNDRAISER

The annual Thinknlocal Fundraiser is underway. Have you scanned a participating vendor's receipt? We have surpassed the $500 goal, but I think we can get to $1,000 by Wednesday. Currently, we are at $738, so we are close. Let's rally this weekend!

This fundraiser supports Eagle Canyon and encourages to shop and dine locally. Let's support our community's local establishments. It is very easy to participate. Check out the image below to see which companies are supporting our fundraiser. You can scan the receipt when you shop or dine at one of the participating companies. Eagle Canyon will earn a percentage of the proceeds for every dollar spent. If you are unsure how to scan your receipt, PTA will collect and scan the receipts for you. There will be a box in the office for receipts.

You may remember the Dog Haus Battle of the Schools if you were an Eagle Canyon family during the 2019-20 school year. Eagle Canyon won and had a hot dog named after our school for a month.

Yogurtland is currently hosting a Battle of the Schools. If you are able, we would love your support in showing the community how Eagle Canyon rallies together and loves to compete. I see Yogurtland in my future! 😋

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mrs. Jenkins to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We met the 96.5% goal all five days last week, averaging 97.92%. 🥰 In the Ayala Feeder, we are in 4th place out of five elementary schools. Let's continue to make attendance a priority. If your child was absent, take advantage of the Saturday School on October 12 to remove one absence.

Beginning this week, the stars of the school with impeccable attendance and zero fashionably late entrances will bask in the glory of donut holes courtesy of the Eagle Canyon PTA! Brace yourselves, as two mystery days each week will be the golden ticket for this sugary delight.

Traffic has improved tremendously over the last few weeks. 😁

If you have someone pick your child up from school, will you remind them to avoid stopping in a crosswalk? We have had several incidents where cars stop in the crosswalk and Diana, our crossing guard, cannot cross students so they can get to school on time.

Additionally, please avoid parking in the loading/unloading areas in the parking lot and on Eagle Canyon Drive. When parents park and get out of the car, it backs our traffic up and prevents students from getting to school on time or home at the end of the day.

We must work together!

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
