Superintendent's Message
January marks a season of new beginnings, and we are seeing that energy come to life across our schools. Our classrooms are buzzing with learning, our winter sports teams are competing with determination, and our extracurricular programs continue to grow in scope and success. From robotics to agriculture to speech and debate, our students are making us proud with their dedication and accomplishments.
Finally, I want to thank you for your continued support of Blue River Valley Schools. Your involvement—whether as a parent, volunteer, or community member—makes a meaningful difference. Together, we are creating an environment where our students can dream big, work hard, and achieve success.
Here’s to a productive and inspiring start to 2025. Please don’t hesitate to reach out or join us at upcoming school events.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Dickerson

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to Jon Madison for his years of dedicated service on the board. His contributions have helped shape the path forward for our district, and we are deeply grateful for his commitment to the success of BRV Schools.
Additionally, we welcome Lance Brown as the newest member of the board. With Carla and Mysia continuing their leadership and Lance bringing fresh perspectives, this team is ready to build on our achievements and work toward an even brighter future for our students and community.

Diligent Community - School Board Digital Platform
We’d like to remind our community members about the Diligent platform, which provides an easy way to stay connected with Blue River Valley Schools. Through this software, you can access important updates, attend board meetings virtually, and engage with district initiatives. We encourage you to take full advantage of this tool to stay informed and involved in the decisions that shape our students’ futures. If you haven't had a chance to visit or subscribe to this portal, please do. We want our community to be informed about the decisions made for our school corporation.
Regular School Board Meeting - Feb. 10 at 7:00 PM in Jr./Sr. High Media Center
Officer Wilson with Shiloh and Mrs. Dickerson with River
At Blue River Valley Schools, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. As part of this commitment, we are excited to explore the possibility of incorporating therapy dogs into our schools.
You may have already noticed two furry friends around campus! Officer Wilson and Mrs. Dickerson have personally purchased two Cavapoo puppies, who are sometimes at school working on their socialization skills. As young puppies, they are getting accustomed to being around students and staff in a variety of settings. These visits offer us a unique opportunity to see how therapy dogs can positively impact our school community.
Therapy dogs have been shown to:
- Reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of isolation.
- Boost student engagement, focus, and confidence, especially in reading and social interactions.
- Create a positive and welcoming school environment.
- Provide comfort and emotional support during challenging moments.
These adorable additions to our school family are just one of the ways we continue to prioritize the success and happiness of our students and staff.
Winter Weather
This month, we have been impacted by several winter weather events, and I want to assure you that we share your desire for regular school schedules. As a parent myself, I understand the challenges that two-hour delays and cancellations can create for your family and daily routines.
Please know that our goal is always to keep students in school and maintain consistency in their education. Decisions regarding delays or cancellations are never made lightly. We take into consideration the safety of our students and staff, including road conditions, weather forecasts, and the ability to ensure safe transportation.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these winter challenges together. Our commitment remains to provide a stable learning environment, and we will continue to make the best decisions for our students' well-being and education.

I Love BRV Day - January 31st
We are excited to announce that I LOVE BRV Day will be celebrated on January 31st! This special day honors the rich history and the continued growth of Blue River Valley Schools, beginning with the merger on January 1, 1964, when the Blue River School Township of Henry County became part of our Blue River Valley family. Join us as we come together to celebrate our school community, past and present, and all the incredible achievements we’ve accomplished together. Let’s make this an annual tradition to share the love and pride we have for BRV!
Current and former staff members of Blue River Valley, mark your calendars for a special evening on February 1st! Join us at the BRV Boys Basketball game at 7:00 PM as we celebrate YOU! All current and former staff members, including bus drivers, custodians, teachers, administrators, support staff, and more, will be admitted for free. During halftime of the Varsity game, you’ll be invited to be recognized for your dedication to BRV.
