All Saints Sunday 2024
“Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” John 11:43-44
Continue to keep our confirmands in your prayers and in your thoughts (consider sending a card/letter to encourage them!) We celebrate these children of God who made public witness of their faith and affirmed what happened to them in baptism!

Celebrate Today
Of all three years of the lectionary cycle, this year’s All Saints readings have the most tears. Isaiah and Revelation look forward to the day when God will wipe away all tears; in John’s gospel, Jesus weeps along with Mary and all the gathered mourners before he demonstrates his power over death. On All Saints Day we celebrate the victory won for all the faithful dead, but we grieve for our beloved dead as well, knowing that God honors our tears. We bring our grief to the table and find there a foretaste of Isaiah’s feast to come.
Lectionary
Isaiah 25:6-9 The banquet of the Lord
Psalm 24 They shall receive blessing from the God of their salvation. (Ps. 24:5)
Revelation 21:1-6a A new heaven and a new earth
John 11:32-44 The raising of Lazarus
*There will be a remembrance display available for any who wish to light a candle and place a picture of a deceased loved one.

Weimar Altarpiece by Lucas Cranach the Elder and his son Lucas Cranach the Younger between 1552 and 1555 for the Church of St. Peter und Paul in Weimar, Germany.
Altar in church in Germany depicts Lutheran legacies: Christ as the center of our lives. To the right John the Baptizer is pointing to Jesus, Luther points to Sola Scriptura, and in between is the artist Lucas Cranach the Elder, humbly washed by Christ’s blood.
CELEBRATE OUR LUTHERAN HERITAGE AND LEARN ABOUT THE REFORMATION THIS OCTOBER!
From our prayers, we are moved to help those affected by recent hurricanes.
