We are so fortunate to have an active community. We hope to see you all very soon at one of these events.
We Want Your Blood
The Community Events Committee (CEC) is organizing BFA's fourth annual blood drive. To better meet your donation needs, the event will be held virtually this year. Donate at your convenience anytime between Oct. 25th - Nov. 9th at any Vitalant location.
To schedule an appointment, visit Vitalant website and use blood drive code SaveLife-4988-S. If you have any questions please contact CEC.
Give Thanks - With Pie
The Community Events Committee (CEC) is holding their annual Pie Appreciation Event this November. This has become a delicious tradition to thank our BFA teachers, administrators and staff for their care and commitment to our students. We hope you will join us by contributing a pie for their Thanksgiving table.
Each staff member will select a pie of their choice and the CEC will purchase the pies; however we can't do it without your help! We are requesting $15 donations to cover the cost of each pie. You can purchase (donate) a pie via MySchoolBucks between now and Nov. 7th. Please visit MySchoolBucks or use the QR code to donate. We thank you in advance for your generosity!
Veteran's Day Celebration

Assembly information will be communicated as the event approaches. Please contact CEC with any questions.
Our Parent Teacher Organization looks forward to an amazing year full of events, fundraisers and sponsorships.
October’s Volunteers of the Month
For the month of October, Jeremy and Erin Casale have been selected as the Ben Franklin Academy Volunteers of the Month. They were nominated by Principal Simpson and the front office staff and are being recognized for the time they have spent helping in the lunchroom. They have set themselves apart and set an excellent example of outstanding volunteerism! For all of their efforts, we'd like to say thank you and recognize Jeremy and Erin.
Jeremy has lived in Colorado most of his life, and in the southwest metro area since he was 10. He graduated from CU Boulder with a business degree and has worked in many different roles throughout his career. He currently works as a self-employed equity and options trader. He met and married Erin 11 years ago when she moved to Colorado from California. Erin works as a nurse at the Collier Hospice Center. They have 2 girls, Claire who is 7 and in second grade at BFA and Lauren who is 4 and attends Waterstone preschool. In their free time we enjoy camping, hiking and family road trips. This is their third year at BFA.
When asked what they love about BFA, they said: “We have been very impressed with the BFA community and all of the wonderful teachers and staff. The teachers do a great job of guiding the students while challenging them to excel in their academics. We are looking forward to being part of the BFA family for many years to come.”
Congratulations, again, Jeremy and Erin. And, thank you for all you do for BFA!
If you know someone who should be considered for volunteer of the month for outstanding volunteerism, please email Janelle Nichols, PTO President.
October’s Volunteer of the Month Drawing Winner
Each month, a volunteer will be randomly chosen through a drawing to win a fun, surprise gift. All you have to do to be eligible to win, is log at least ONE hour of volunteer service in the month prior to the drawing.
This month, Daniel Flint is the winner of our drawing for his volunteer time in September, and has won a gift card to Gelato and Co. Congratulations, Daniel! And, thank you again for helping out around school!
November PTO Spirit Nights - Evereve and Krispy Kreme Digital Dozens!
Please mark your calendars for an Evereve shopping Spirit Day/Night on November 4 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Evereve Aspen Grove (7301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton) will donate 15% of purchases made to the BFA PTO! It's the perfect time to shop for holiday items or get a head start on your gift shopping! Please tell the cashier that you are there for the BFA fundraiser.
We are also planning our Krispy Kreme Digital Dozens fundraiser from November 8-22. More details coming soon!
Ben’s Brigade Pints with the Principals
Ben’s Brigade Pints with the Principals will be on Thursday, October 24th at Max Taps in Highlands Ranch. This will be a fun, relaxed way to spend some time with the BFA principals outside of school. Please note that the event will start at 6:00 p.m. If you can’t get there by 6:00, just show up as soon as you can.
We would love to have as many of you show up as possible. If you haven’t been to a Ben’s Brigade meeting this year, or ever, then make this your first one! If you’ve come to our meetings and events before, then bring a friend to Pints with the Principals! Ben’s Brigade will provide food.
BENefit Bash Save the Date!
The BENefit Bash is the PTO's primary fundraiser during the 2024-2025 school year. It's a BFA tradition that the parents look forward to, so we hope you will join us for "A Night in Tuscany" on Saturday, March 8, 2025! Tickets will go on sale in January, but please mark your calendars today!
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with the event, please reach out to the PTO's Fundraising Coordinator, Erin Wiley.
Trunk or Treat - More Treats Needed!
BFA’s 4th Annual Trunk or Treat is taking place next Thursday, October 31st! It's going to be a FUN day for ALL preschool through eighth grade BFA students! Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer and donate treats. We are still in need of treat donations to make sure all of the students get treats at each trunk. Please see the Signup Genius and consider supporting by donating treats for our students! All donations can be dropped off in the BFA front office now through Monday, October 28.
All of our volunteer spots are currently full for hosting a trunk and running candy the day of the event, but please keep checking back for openings as there is always some turnover as we get closer to the event.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Abby Jensen, PTO Trunk or Treat Committee Manager.
K-5 Halloween Parties
K-5 Halloween Classroom Parties will also take place on Thursday, October 31, from 1:45-2:45 p.m. Party volunteers will be limited to a max of four per classroom (three volunteers, plus the party planner). As much as we love welcoming our families into the school, we also ask that no additional siblings come with you if you are volunteering in one of our classroom parties. Instead, please make plans to attend the Trunk or Treat if you would like to participate in our Halloween festivities.
If you have any questions about the elementary party coordination, please reach out to
Amy Marks, PTO Room Parent Coordinator.

2024 - 2025 PTO Sponsors
We are so thankful to announce this year’s BFA PTO sponsors! We have quite an amazing group of companies, individuals, and families supporting our school. Over the year, we’ll be featuring them in different ways and hopefully we can also show our support back. Many of them will be offering specials for BFA families, so stay tuned.
This year, we were able to raise $28,850 - $900 of that being for the Franklin Fest… that is a record!
Thank you for all of your commitment to BFA!!!

BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.
Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.
13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
