An amateur theater company's whodunit hurtles towards opening night -- but the real mystery is whether the cast and crew can get this disaster to curtain call. The best seat in the house is backstage on opening night in this full-throttled homage to Michael Frayn's classic comedy, Noises Off.
Noses Off is our New Faces production, which will feature our youngest MHS theatre artists.

Speech Teacher Emerita Returns to MHS to Coach Entrepreneurs in Public Speaking
On Tuesday, November 12, Jennifer Franco, retired English teacher, returned to MHS with her signature spirited and motivational demeanor to coach the students in our Honors Business Incubator in the art of public speaking in preparation for their upcoming MVP pitches, set to take place in December.
Jennifer began with some breathing techniques, then moved into some strategies to give students an edge before beginning their presentation. A veteran stage actor, she shared how the power of positive thinking and confident posturing can help them be their best while speaking. “You’ve gotta tell yourself that you’ve done your best,” she shared, “and then give it to them!”
Her coaching session continued with exercises in volume, eye contact, and use of space. By the end of the session, students were up on their feet and practicing these skills in front of their peers!
Graphic Design Intern Attends Networking Event with Mentor
Earlier this semester we posted a profile of graphic design intern Mira Myrie, which included a description of her work with her mentors, Jess Stoffel of Epic Media, Inc. and Randy Rice and Greg Kelsey of Signs Now.
In that time, Mira’s exposure to her career field has expanded into our school entrusting her with some print graphic design work and her participation in a recent local networking event on November 13th. This event, part of the Engaging Speakers - Libertyville Chapter, was one of many that features a community of like-minded professionals dedicated to supporting each other in businesss. Jess, owner of Epic Media, was the keynote speaker and brought Mira to experience the world of business networking groups and hear her presentation, titled “Unapologetically Authentic Marketing”.
Armed with a great attitude, a power outfit, and a newly-printed set of business cards, Mira attended the event and reported that experience went “super well” and that lots of laughter was shared.
Thank you Jess for opening up our student Mira to the world of networking--this experience will surely shape her career pathway!
