The first day of school is Tuesday, July 30! 🥳🎈

I wanted to share the following info below to help support you on the first day of school:

Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten and SDC Kindergarten Bell Schedule

TK/Kindergarten AM: Arrival @ 8:15am - Dismissal at 12:05pm

TK/Kindergarten PM: Arrival @ 10:40am - Dismissal @ 2:30pm

• FREE Breakfast Service for all AM TK/Kindergarten begins @ 7:45am
  

1st through 6th Grade Bell Schedule

All 1st-6th graders: Arrival @ 8:25am - Dismissal at 2:30pm

• FREE Breakfast Service for all 1st-6th graders begins at 8:00am

Drop-off Locations (UPDATED) 🚶🚗

All drop-off locations are labelled at the front of campus and are as follows:

• All Students Eating Breakfast: Enter through the main gates
• Preschool: Enter through your designated gate on the south side of campus
• TK (UPDATED): Enter through the front gate to the Kinder playground located to the right of the main gate
• Kinder: Enter through the main gates of the school
• All SDC Classes: Enter through the playground gate just to the right of the main gates
• 1st and 2nd Grade: Enter through the fire lane gates on the south side of campus (this is just to the right of the preschool buildings)
• 3rd and 4th Grade: Enter through the main gates
• 5th and 6th Grade: Enter through the north gate to the left of the cafeteria building

Over the summer, Westwood welcomed our new Vice Principal, Mrs. Christine Neal!

Christine comes to Westwood with an incredible range of experiences including:

• multiple years of vice principal experience at both Reese and John Muir elementary schools
• multiple years of experience as an instructional coach
• multiple years as a classroom teacher herself

When you see Mrs. Neal, say hello and welcome her to Westwood! She's so excited to be joining us, and we're so excited for this year with your students!

If you have needs or support related to what's going on in the classroom, the teacher is always your great first point of contact! They should be communicating with you early and often throughout the year.

If you have needs or support related to the school, you are always encouraged to reach out to the office, Mrs. Neal, or myself. We want to you to know that our door is open, and it is so important to us that we partner with you at home.

🏫📆 Back to School Night is on Thursday, August 15 @ 4:30-6:00pm

• 4:30-5:00 will be the Title 1 Parent Presentation - All parents are invited
• 5:00-6:00 classroom will be open to see your student's classroom and teacher

As a safety reminder, when picking up or dropping off your student, please use our drop-off loop (the staff parking lot is not for student drop-off) and pull as far forward as possible when in line with your vehicle. This supports a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.

🚗 Parents should stay in their vehicles during this time, and they should not leave a vehicle unattended at any time. If you need help, wave down a staff member and we will be happy to assist you. Thank you for doing your part to keep our students safe.

We are excited to announce that this year, families are able to verify their child's elementary school teacher and secondary school class schedule through our online data confirmation process. Starting on July 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM, parents who have completed the online data confirmation will be able to access this information. We encourage all parents to complete the online data confirmation process by following the instructions in the flyer below.

This important step will allow you to update your child's emergency contact info while also helping to support our school site with additional funding!
