Repeated Info
Changes to Electronic Device Policy
The LCISD School Board adjusted what is formerly known as the Electronic Device Policy. It is now known as Telecommunication Device Policy.
Important information for all parents: the bolded italicized section is a revision in the Elementary Student Handbook pages 72-73
Students are allowed to bring their own telecommunication devices to school. This includes, but is not limited to cell phones, smart phones, iPads, earbuds, tablets and laptop computes. All devices must remain in student backpacks during the instructional day, including during all testing, unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes.
The use of cell phones or any device capable of capturing images is strictly prohibited in locker rooms or restroom areas while at school or a school-related or school-sponsored event.
If a student uses a telecommunications device without authorization during the school day, the device will be confiscated. Teachers and school personnel will report telecommunication device infractions to the appropriate campus administrator for confiscation.
Any telecommunication device turned in to campus administration will be documented and the parent or guardian will be notified. The student will receive a discipline referral. If this is the student's first offense, they will be allowed to retrieve their device at the end of the school day. Subsequent offenses will require the device to be picked up by the parent or guardian at the end of the instructional day and a fee will be assessed. Please see campus-specific guidelines for additional information.
Any unpaid fee will be added to the “fees and fines list” for the student.
With the importance of test security on state testing days, any telecommunication device confiscated during a state testing administration may result in a fee.
Failure to surrender the telecommunication device to the requesting adult will result in an automatic discipline referral.
Mark Your Calendar
Below are the dates for our ALL OUT House Days where students may wear their House colors from head to toe...tutus, glasses, hats, headbands, wigs, painted hair...etc!
On all other Fridays, students should simply wear their House t-shirt.
Standardized Dress at Adolphus
We have a standardized dress code at Adolphus that includes shorts. Any shorts worn by boys or girls must be mid-thigh length or longer. Some parents have expressed that it is hard to find shorts for girls, in particular, that come to at least mid-thigh. Below is an image and an attachment that has some options that appear to be appropriate for our standardized dress code. If you choose to order any of these, please verify they are truly at the acceptable length. This was created in effort to assist parents with buying options. I hope it helps!
Happy Birthday!

Birthday Marquee Message
Submit Birthday Marquee Request form and $20.00 donation (cash or check payable to "Adolphus") to the office at least 2 weeks in advance of your students birthday. Birthday messages will appear on Marquee for one week beginning on Monday through Sunday.

Procedures
Canvas Parent Guide
Our district utilizes Canvas as a communication tool between school and home. Use this link to access the directions.
Attendance Information
Please see the important attendance information below.
Absences and Tardy Policy
Please see below regarding our policy for absences and tardies.
Car Rider Procedures
Please review these car rider procedures to make sure you are "in the know".
Front Parking Lot Procedure During Morning Arrival
For safety reasons, we kindly request that all school-aged children be dropped off at the car rider line, where our safety patrol will assist. Parents needing to visit the front office may park after dropping off their children. Please note that the parking lot will be closed during morning arrival.
Transportation
All parents will choose one mode of dismissal transportation for their child to follow daily. We strongly encourage all parents to refrain from calling the front office for transportation changes this year unless it is an absolute need. Students do best when they have one consistent routine when going home, so we want to minimize changes as much as possible.
Please know that changing to bus transportation requires a 5 school day notice.
Though we have a solid system for managing the changes, there is a greater opportunity for mistakes because it is a change of routine. The last thing we want is confusion with your child getting home. Safety is our top concern. 🙂
Dismissal in Rain
Please be aware that we will only implement a “Severe Weather Dismissal” (formerly known as Rainy Day Dismissal) if we are experiencing severe weather such as nearby lightning, tornado warnings, etc.
Walkers and bikers will continue their normal dismissal, even if it is raining.
Best practice is to have your child pack rain gear if rain is forecast. If you forget and want to change your child’s dismissal from walker/biker, please call the front office by 1:45 PM. The school phone number is 832-223-4700. We do not accept transportation changes through the teacher’s email because they are engaged with teaching our students.
Lunch Visitation
To ensure every parent has a chance to visit when they desire, we kindly ask that visits be limited to once per month. This also gives your child the opportunity to develop social skills by interacting with classmates during lunch. Walk-in visitors will be welcome if there is space available in the sign-up.
Adolphus Lunch Visitor Sign-up
When signing-up, make sure to select the total quantity in your group (including the student). For example, if mom and dad are visiting, select 3 for the quantity to include the student and both visitors. Include the student's name in the comments.
Due to spacing, a maximum of 12 visitors are permitted for each grade level lunch. Please limit 2 visitors per student.
Please review the reminders below:
1. On the day reserved, come 5 minutes early and bring your driver's license/state issued ID.
2. You will only be allowed to eat with your student.
3. Lunch visitors may ONLY be in the main hallway & café parent room during your student's lunch period. No visitors in the classroom or playground.
Label Jackets/Sweaters
Set Your Child up for Success!
The students need to be through the front doors by 7:15 in order to not be counted tardy. If you arrive at 7:15 or after, your child will need to enter the main doors of the school to go through the front office to get their tardy slip. That is never a fun way to start their day, so please help get them to school ready for learning by 7:05 AM. :-)
All students in their seats will receive a Dojo point as an incentive to arrive at this time.
No Cell Phone Use in School Zones
The use of cell phones within school zones is prohibited (unless used with a hands-free device) under Section 545.425 of the Texas Transportation Code.
In the past few months, Mrs. Boarman has seen several parents texting and talking on the phone (not hands free) while in the school zone. This is against the law, and you may receive a ticket for this offense. Please partner with us to keep YOUR kids safe!
