Dear Wolverines-
What a year this has been! While there were many changes and challenges along the way, one thing remained constant...YOU! This year could not have been a success without you.
Our top priorities this year were safety and connection. We knew that for both in-person and remote students, building a safe space to engage with peers and learn was paramount to your success. We implemented safety precautions with the help of many people. We could not have done it without you! As our students interacted via Zoom and in-person, they helped reinforce those precautions every day and held each other accountable. In all honesty, we knew they would.
A big part of being a Wolverine is feeling connected to your peers. This year the excellent staff of Westgate worked extra hard to help students feel connected to the school and their classmates. There is no doubt that, at times, it was a challenge. By working together to develop expectations and routines, they strengthened those connections. We hope they learned this year that even though many of us were apart while learning, we were connected by the shared belief that we are all unique and here to build new strengths.
To our 5th grade Wolverines, their journey through Westgate has been memorable. We hope they won't forget all of the people they met along the way. Each individual has helped shape who they are. Middle School is their next challenge. We want them to meet it head-on with the same energy and excitement they brought to Westgate each day.
One thing is for sure, take time this summer to reignite your passions. Read a book, ride your bike, talk to friends, make new friends, but above all, find time to do what makes you happy. Thank you all for making this school year the success story that it is. We can't wait to see you next year!
