CBC YOUTH LEADERS GUIDE
Starting Point
Leaders, you’re entrusted here with an important task in ministering to our students in their discipleship formation. These moments you’re going to have with them may be short, but we know that they can be extremely impactful. I want to take this time to remind us of a few things before we go any further:
- Our end goal is to glorify God by enjoying Him. While we must learn the art of listening, while we must engage in building relationships and counsel, all of these things are a part of the discipleship process to lead our students towards God and His goodness. We don’t do things just to do things, we must remember our ultimate purpose.
- These 1 on 1s is a part of the discipleship process, not the ends. There’s two ways to understand this: one is that these 1 on 1s is just one of the many things we will need to do to build out a full-orbed discipleship process in our youth ministry. It will need to be supplemented with teaching, worship, membership, and fellowship; also we are still a youth ministry meaning we’re responsible for establishing a solid base for our students so that when they move on from our ministry they have the right tools to be grow at the next stage.

Here’s a list of things that you can choose to discuss in your one on one:
