A Note from Dr. Whipple
May 5, 2024
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Without a doubt, I would not have been able to have become the person I am without some very special teachers throughout my life that helped shape and guide me. I'm sure we can all think of those teachers in our lives that made us better by pushing us when we didn't think we could do something, supporting us through difficult times or finding humor in the day to day. This is a great week to reach out to a teacher, either past or present, and let them know how much of a difference they made for you!
Make sure to check out info regarding the following below:
- AP Exams starting on 5/8
- Prom and Attendance Procedures on 5/10
- Bike Bazaar on 5/10 & 5/11
- Macedon Public Library Chat & Win Contest on 5/28
AP Exams Start 5/8!
For students taking Advanced Placement courses, exams will begin May 8th. Please see the attached letter for the schedule of exams and another Smore link for the College Board's rules for students taking the exams. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Bertram in the Counseling Office.
Also, please note that the bells will be turned off while the AP exams are being administered. We will also shift announcements on the days with morning exams.
Jr/Sr Prom! - 5/10
The prom is this Friday from 7-11pm at Casa Larga. We are looking forward to a fun night! Parents and guardians, please help reinforce the importance of making smart choices. Also, please be aware of our attendance regulations (see below) for participating in extracurricular events from the Procedures and Regulations for Extracurricular Activities on pg. 3:
A student must attend a full day of school, both on the day of an event and the day after, unless there is a legal excuse other than illness. If a student is not in school, unless for a legal excuse other than illness, they cannot participate in their Extra‐Curricular/Athletic Programs that day.
You can find examples of what constitutes a legal or illegal absence from school on pg. 15 of the Student Handbook. Please reach out to the office if you have further questions.
Bike Bazaar - 5/10-5/11
Macedon Public Library Chat & Win Contest - 5/28

#GanandaPROUD
Twelfth Night, Gananda's first play, debuted this past weekend. It was a fantastic, and funny, adaptation of Shakespeare's romantic comedy. Thank you Mr. Barresi for organizing and directing!
Congratulations to Andrea, Leah, Claire and Brody for earning the April Student of the Month Awards!
Thank you Officer Murray and Officer Halverson for coming in to demonstrate how balance, coordination and perception is affected with impairment goggles that simulated different levels of being under the influence. It was a great lesson about the dangers of drunk driving.
Friday was School Hero Lunch Day. Thank you Ms. Cowan, Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. Hirsch for all that you do to keep the breakfasts and lunches running smoothly!
Macedon Town Supervisor Kim Leonard and Walworth Town Supervisor Mike Donalty honored Varsity Cheer and members from the Boys and Girls Varsity Swim team for their Sectional Championships this year with an official Proclamation of Accomplishment. Check out the story here! Peyton Conner was also featured as WHEC 10's Student Athlete of the Week! Check out that story here.
What a game! Varsity Baseball had a great come from behind victory on Senior Day this past week. Congrats to Aidan, Matt and Derek for all their hard work in the program.
