January 17, 2025
Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
School will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This national holiday commemorates the extraordinary life and enduring impact of Dr. King, a visionary who championed equality, justice, and nonviolent social change.
Dr. King's unwavering commitment to civil rights during the 1950s and 1960s reshaped American society. His powerful advocacy for racial equality and his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech continue to inspire generations. This day serves as a reminder of the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead in realizing Dr. King's vision of a truly equitable society. We encourage families to use this day as an opportunity for reflection and action:
- Discuss Dr. King's legacy with your children
- Engage in community service activities
- Reflect on how we can contribute to a more just and inclusive world
The holiday embodies Dr. King's belief in the transformative power of service and community engagement. By participating in acts of kindness and volunteering, we honor his memory and continue his work towards building a better society for all.
As we enjoy this extended weekend, let's remember the values Dr. King stood for and consider how we can incorporate them into our daily lives. Together, we can work towards creating a more compassionate and equitable community.
Warm regards,
Kevin Chase
Instructional Spotlight
4th Grade students were engaged in discovering about potential and kinetic energy, and how energy is transferred when objects collide.
Student Spotlight
Brick Masters have been having a great time these last 2 weeks!
Our first challenge was building "bridges" to get one Lego friend in the US to their friend in England. Students quickly realized that the bridges needed extra support, and worked together to build a stronger bridge with a support in the middle.
This week's challenge had Brick Masters creating innovative ways to rescue a Lego person from a "canyon" (aka a recycling bin).
We discussed how tired a Lego person would get if they had to climb stairs, so they needed another option. Some built a rock wall, while others built elevators with walls to keep the Lego person from falling out, a ladder with a platform to safely get out, and a few helicopters!

School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
