A delicious & heartwarming volunteer opportunity

You are invited to Squash Hunger! Farmers from around Pennsylvania are setting aside their excess produce to be transformed into a delicious and nutritious soup for those in need. Please join us in sorting, preparing and freezing a bounty of squash soup. The soup will be donated to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Soup Kitchen for distribution directly to the those in need in the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg.

Food is recovered through collaboration with local Pennsylvania farmers.

The fresh food is then preserved in community kitchens that are licensed and certified.

The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse is a community organization dedicated to saving and sharing healthy food. We do this by recovering food that would have otherwise been wasted, preserving it in healthy and creative ways and then distributing it to the community.

Donations toward this project will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Please feel free to bring a donation to the event or donate ahead of time by sending a check payable to the Greenhouse.

Spiral Path Farm

Spiral Path Farm is located in South-Central Pennsylvania, in scenic western Perry County, between the Tuscarora and Blue Mountain ranges. Near the town of Loysville, Spiral Path Farm is home to Mike and Terra Brownback family since 1978. We farm all of our 255 acres naturally and have been certified organic since 1994.

Village Acres Farm & Foodshed

Connecting people to their food, the earth and each other for more than thirty years. Village Acres is an organic farm and a CSA just outside of Milfflintown in a village called Cuba Mills, PA.

Joshua Farm

The Joshua Farm is located in the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg. It is a CSA with a strong focus on youth education.
