School Food Applications are Online
We are pleased to announce that all of our students at Frank D. Paulo Intermediate School 75 will be receiving free breakfast and lunch. As many of you know, the “Family Income Inquiry Form” was a vital part of the application process. Please note that we still need to complete this form in order for our school to receive money vital to many of our programs. Please complete this inquiry process online by using the following link:
https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application
PLEASE PRINT OUT CONFIRMATION PAGE and have your child submit this to their advisory teacher.
If you are unable to submit it online, there will be paper applications coming home this week.
We thank you for your assistance in regard to this matter. Once again, the application process enables us to get much needed funding for our school programs.
School Spirit Days 2023-2024
As we embark on another school year, we are excited to share with you a list of our upcoming school spirit days throughout 2023 - 24. Here at Paulo, we understand the importance of cultivating a sense of student pride and ownership across our hallways and classrooms. We believe that this sense of warmth and optimism allows our students to feel valued and welcomed each and every day and makes Paulo a place where all students can flourish. To this end, we enlist your support in ensuring your child participates in our various Paulo Pride days. We are sharing this calendar of events with you now because we realize on some occasions you may need to secure a special outfit or piece of apparel. Every Friday students are encouraged to wear Paulo apparel. Students who have Paulo pajama pants can only wear them on Fridays. Again, our goal is 100% student participation, and we can’t do it without you!

Arista (8th), Jr. Arista (7th), and Honor Society (6th)
Membership in the Paulo Arista Society is reserved for students meeting all of the following requirements:
1. Scholarship – Academic average of at least 91.00% in each marking period with no grade, in any subject, below 80 or “S”. Please note that a course grade of 79 or lower precludes a student from Arista.
2. Citizenship – No citizenship grade below “S” in any marking period. Satisfactory* record of attendance and punctuality. (*See lateness policy in Honor Roll Section, as lateness impacts citizenship.)
3. Service – The attainment of at least 20 service credits per school year.
4. Attendance/Punctuality – Students absent more than 8 days per school year are precluded. (If medical documentation (from a medical office/practitioner) is provided, medical-related absences will not count toward the 8-day limit.) Also, students who are picked up early from school five or more times in a given semester are also precluded from this recognition. Excessive lateness (more than 5 in a given marking period) precludes a student from Arista.
5. Application – New for 2023-2024: All students who have met the above criteria and would like to be considered for induction into Arista must complete an online application that will be made available in April. As a required part of the application, students must write a 2-4 paragraph description of a personal accomplishment from the 2023-2024 school year for which they are particularly proud
Please see the Student Handbook for a more in-depth explanation of criteria for the Paulo Arista Society.
Service Credits
Service credit is a form of school-based volunteer work where students are acknowledged for their meaningful contributions. In-school service can be in the form of classroom monitoring, being a member of a school team, or even just participating in a spirit event.
Students are encouraged to participate in as many activities as possible. School service, partnered with a dedication to their academics, builds a strong foundation for the well-rounded student. Students are afforded opportunities throughout the year to earn these credits. Participation in out-of-school charitable events or organizations does not count for service credits. Participation in said events are recognized separately. Letters of participation in community-based service can be sent in to Mr. Herrmann, who will catalog their efforts and count them toward the Philanthropy Award (given to deserving graduates).

Morning Drop Off Procedure
We need to enlist your cooperation with our morning drop-off procedures. As Woodrow Road and Huguenot Avenue are very busy and congested areas during the morning, it is imperative that we all cooperate in order to keep our children safe. Therefore, if you drive your child to school in the morning, we implore you to strictly adhere to the following procedures:
- All students who are driven to school must enter the school yard from the Boulder Avenue entrance in the back of the school building. Students will not be permitted to enter the school yard at the Woodrow Road or Huguenot Avenue entrance. The Huguenot Avenue “driveway” entrance is reserved for students arriving via school bus.
- Pull all the way over to the curb before allowing your child(ren) to disembark in the morning. Please do not “double park” when dropping off or picking up children.
- Make sure that your child(ren) have their belongings ready in order to exit the car as quickly as possible each morning. This will help to keep the line moving.
- If there is a line of cars waiting to drop off students, please do not “cut” the line by driving around them. Your cooperation will decrease congestion and make pulling away from the curb safer and easier for those who are following protocol.
- After your child has disembarked, please wait for the car in front of you to pull out of line before proceeding.
- Please do not make U-turns on Woodrow Road or Huguenot Avenue. People making U-turns are putting their children, themselves and others in danger. Further, U-turns are prohibited in NYS school zones. According to NYS Vehicles & Traffic Law 1161B, no motor vehicle shall make a U turn within a school zone.
- If you are dropping off your child on the opposite side of Woodrow Road or Huguenot Avenue, please insist that your child crosses at the corner with the assistance of a school crossing guard. Please do not “cross” your child at any area other than the corner with the assistance of a school crossing guard. Doing so puts your child’s safety at risk.
- Our doors are open at 7:30 AM and the drop off area becomes most congested between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM. If at all possible, plan to leave home early enough to arrive before 7:45 AM. Remember, school starts at 8:00 AM and students are penalized for excessive lateness.
- Please take kindly to the suggestions of school personnel in the morning, they are made with the safety of our children in mind.
- Please do not block driveways of our neighbors when visiting the school. Your cooperation in respecting our neighbors is greatly appreciated.
By adhering to the above procedures, you are helping to ensure the safety of all of our children. Your cooperation is not only greatly appreciated, but is necessary.
