Estimadas familias de OLPH:

¡Fue un placer darles la bienvenida a sus hijos a la escuela esta semana después de las vacaciones, ya que comenzamos el Año Nuevo 2025! Les deseo mucha salud, felicidad y éxito a todos ustedes al comenzar el segundo semestre y el nuevo año. Gracias por su flexibilidad a medida que pasamos al aprendizaje virtual esta semana con el inicio del clima inclemente que azotó nuestra ciudad.

Este domingo, celebramos la Fiesta del Bautismo de Jesús. El bautismo de Jesús sirve como un poderoso recordatorio de nuestra misión: abrazar la presencia de Dios dentro de nosotros, reconocer nuestra dignidad como hijos amados de Dios y honrar la Presencia Divina en los demás tratándolos con amor, respeto y humildad a través de nuestras acciones y servicio. El hermoso evangelio que escucharemos este domingo termina con las palabras del Padre: “Tú eres mi Hijo amado; en ti tengo complacencia”. Todos estamos llamados a ser hijos e hijas de nuestro Señor. ¡Este Evangelio es un maravilloso testimonio de nuestra misión de vivir fieles a nuestra fe bautismal!

Enero es un mes muy ajetreado, por favor recuerden que el próximo viernes 17 de enero no habrá clases para nuestros estudiantes ya que nuestros maestros participarán en un día de desarrollo profesional diocesano. Además, el lunes 20 de enero es el Día de Martin Luther King Jr. y la escuela estará cerrada en conmemoración de este feriado.

¡Que tengan un maravilloso fin de semana ya que este clima sopla hacia el este y tenemos dos días de sol en el pronóstico!

Dear OLPH Families,

It was great to welcome back your children to the school this week after the holidays as we start the New Year in 2025! I wish much health, happiness, and success to all of you as we begin the second semester and the new year. Thank you for your flexibility as we transitioned into virtual learning this week with the onset of the inclement weather that beset our city.

This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus. Jesus’ baptism serves as a powerful reminder of our mission: to embrace the presence of God within us, recognize our dignity as beloved children of God, and honor the Divine Presence in others by treating them with love, respect, and humility through our actions and service. The beautiful gospel that we will hear this Sunday ends with the words of the Father , “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.” We are all called to be the sons and daughters of our Lord. This Gospel is a wonderful testament of our mission to live true to our baptismal faith!

January is a busy month, please remember that next Friday, January 17th there will be no school for our students as our teachers will be participating in a diocesan professional development day. Also, Monday January 20th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and school will be closed in observance of this holiday.

Have a wonderful weekend as this weather blows to the East and we have two days of sunshine in the forecast!

• Recuerde que si a su hijo le gustaría practicar un deporte este año, necesitamos que le realicemos un examen físico y que un médico complete el formulario (formulario a continuación y al final del boletín). / Remember if your child would like to play a sport this year we need a physical done and the form needs to be filled out by a doctor (form below and end of newsletter).

• Se requerirán horas de servicio de 10 horas por trimestre o se cobrará $20 por hora por trimestre que no se complete. / Service hours will be required 10 hours per quarter or $20 an hour will be charged per quarter that are not completed.

• Todos los estudiantes de 5º a 8º grado deben usar el uniforme deportivo para la clase de educación física, cómprelos por $30 en la oficina principal. / All 5th-8th grade students must wear the athletic uniform for PE class, purchase them for $30 in the front office.
• Todos los equipos deportivos de OLPH practicarán con su uniforme deportivo. /All OLPH athletic teams will practice in their athletic uniform.
• Se requieren mochilas transparentes para todos los estudiantes de EC a 8.º grado. /Clear backpacks are required for all students EC-8th grades.
