The Malley Drive Messenger
September 2024
A Message From The Principal
September 2024
Dear Malley Drive Families,
Thank you for a great start to an exciting year at Malley! It was wonderful seeing
many of our families for Back to School Night in August… we value each and every
one of you, and we are so glad you have chosen to send your students to Malley
Drive Elementary.
Our Malley Drive scholars have been very busy learning routines and procedures
and are highly engaged in learning with their new teachers! We will be hosting our
first annual Scholar Showcase event on the evening of October 3rd , where our
students will engage in Student-Led Conferences. We are excited to meet with
families during that time to help strengthen the home/school connection and to
hear our scholars present their academic goals for this school year! Be sure to look
for a sign up from your child’s teacher in mid-September.
I’d like to take a moment to highlight areas regarding school safety, homework,
and communication at Malley Drive. Please read the following notes and let us
know if you should have any questions.
Morning Arrival and Supervision: Students are welcome to arrive at 7:30 for
breakfast, and enter through the front entrance. It is imperative that no student
arrive prior to 7:30 am, as there is no breakfast supervision before this time.
Outside supervision begins at 7:35 am, and students should not arrive prior to that
time. Our first bell will ring at 7:45 am and instruction will begin promptly at 7:50, so
it is important that our scholars arrive to school on time and ready to learn.
When arriving in the morning it is important that scholars line up at their outside
classroom doors ready to learn. There is no playground supervision in the
mornings, and for the safety of all students, we ask that scholars not use the
playground equipment prior to school.
Afternoon Dismissal: School will be dismissed at 2:35 pm every day of the week.
Student Attendance: Just a reminder regarding District Policy 5020 around
student attendance- students are considered chronically absent when they miss
more than 5 days in a semester, or 10 days in a school year. When your student
must be absent, please remember to call our attendance line to report their
absence prior to 7:45 am. You may reach our attendance line at 720-972-5498.
Animals on Campus: We know that pets are part of our families and are well
loved! However, animals are not permitted on school grounds. For the safety of all
our students please leave your furry friends at home and do not bring them on
campus.

Title I Parent Right To Know Letter
August 21, 2024
As a parent of a student at Malley Drive Elementary, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teacher who instructs your child. This is a requirement for all districts that receive Title I funds. Federal law allows you to request certain information about your student’s classroom teacher. The law also requires the district to give you this information in a timely manner upon request. Listed below is the information in which you have the right to ask for regarding each of your student’s classroom teachers.
Whether the Colorado Department of Education has licensed or endorsed your student’s teacher for the grades and subjects taught.
Whether CDE has decided that your student’s teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.
The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and, if so, the subject of the degrees.
Whether any teachers’ aides or similar paraeducators provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
Please contact Tim Griffin in the Adams 12 Human Resources Office at 720-972-4082 or tim.griffin@adams12.org if you would like to receive any of this information.
Sincerely,
Kristin Powers
Principal

Text Messaging (opt in)
Parents can opt in to receive text message alerts sent by the district and schools. Opting in is a two-step process:
- Make sure your cell phone number is listed in Infinite Campus in the cell phone field.

Personalize your SchoolMessenger communications
After all the contact information in the databases is correct, parents can set up an account in School Messenger to set preferences for how they receive communications sent through the system. School Messenger also provides an "Inbox" which contains all the messages a person has received from the Five Star District and schools in the past 30 days. Note that School Messenger accounts may only be set up with email addresses that are in Infinite Campus for parents/guardians. Learn more!
