Parent Resources
Showing up to school daily is critical for children’s well-being, engagement and learning. Here are some resources to help you help your child:

Cold Weather
Cold weather has finally hit us here at KPS. Just a reminder that with cooler temperatures we need to dress for the weather. Please send your child with a warm winter jacket, toque and mitts and snow pants for the days that the kids are outside. The threshold temperature for outdoor recess at -20C with the windchill.
When riding the bus it is important to remember that sometimes busses can break down while on route. All children on the bus need to dress for the weather as busses can get very cold if they are out in the elements for an extended time.
Polar Bear Club
KPS has started a Polar Bear Club! Our temperature threshold for indoor recess is -20C with the windchill. This club is open to all students in K- 9 and supports mental health by providing outdoor opportunities on indoor recess days. With signed permission, students will be allowed to participate in supervised outdoor lunch recess when temperatures are warmer than -26C with the windchill. More information can be found with the permission form in Rycor. If you choose to sign the form, please remember to “check out” to submit it.

Thank you for partnering with us to foster a positive and collaborative learning experience.
While the PowerSchool app provides a convenient way to access information in the moment, it does not offer everything the web browser does. Please see this document for more information about the web browser.
We had a mixup with sizing when we ordered new boys volleyball jerseys. We are selling the extra smaller sizes (Youth Medium and Youth Large). They are great quality shirts and would look fantastic on our young fans! Give the gift of School Spirit for Christmas!

Ski Trip
We have made the decision to book our ski trip to Alliance again this year. As a school, we value the opportunity to experience new things while supporting community organizations. Our trip is booked for Jan. 30 and permission forms are posted to Rycor. Payment must be made with the form. We are grateful to Parent Advisory for their willingness to support this trip, paying for lessons and a portion of the lift ticket for all students. We have grouped our students into two cohorts: gr. 4-6 and gr. 7-9. We will need an 80% participation rate in a cohort, or the trip will be cancelled for that group. If financial assistance is required for your child to attend, please contact the school. The form will close on Jan. 6 and a decision will be made based on the number of students signed up.
Christmas Concert Information and Itinerary
Our students from K-9 have been working hard to prepare an amazing show for you on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 pm. Below you will find some information to help you prepare:
What should your child wear to the concert? Please dress in your Christmas best! This could be a dress, nice jeans, a sweater, dress pants, etc. (no ripped clothing, cropped tops sweatpants, or hats)
6:30 p.m. - The doors to the Community Hall will open. A cash donation box will be at the door. The donations go towards putting on next year's Christmas Concert as well as the rental of the Community Hall. Please let extended family members know as they are sometimes not expecting to make a donation.
6:30-6:55 p.m - This is a time for families to come and take pictures at the Christmas tree and visit with others. Children are the responsibility of their parents until 6:55. (Running around the hall and going on stage is not allowed).
6:55-7:00 p.m. - Please ensure your child visits the washroom and then finds the seat with their name taped to it. Your child will know where it is.
7:00 p.m. - Please turn off your devices, sit back, and enjoy the show.
When the show has concluded, please help us in stacking the chairs and enjoy a homemade cookie being given out at the door.
8:00 p.m. - The evening will be concluded.
December 20 Movie at the Living Room
On the afternoon of December 20, the Grade 1 to 6 classes will be walking to the Living Room Theatre to watch the movies "Santa Paws 2 - The Santa Pups." We will leave the school at 12:45 p.m. and return at approximately 3:00 p.m. All children will be provided with popcorn and a drink. We are asking parents to please send a $2.00 donation to cover the cost of the snacks.
