Winter Reminders & Cold Weather
Scholar Drop-Off:
A reminder, scholar drop-off in the morning begins at 9:25 AM. There is no supervision or coverage prior to that time outside. and with cold weather, make sure your scholars are dressed for the weather!
Recess:
It's that time of year ~ weather is turning colder! Please make sure that your scholar has all the warm weather gear necessary so that they can enjoy recess. Recess is part of every scholar's day and the expectation is that they will go outside. If the weather or windchill reaches a certain thresh hold, indoor recess will be called. The chart below is used to determine outdoor recess.
Girls on the Run Spring Season
Unlocking Power and Potential
Girls on the Run is a fun, evidence based program
That inspires participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others.
Our Spring Season will be starting soon and we are looking for coaches. Do you have a girl on the run in grades 3-6? Consider joining this fun activity after school for 1 or 2 days per week.
Interested? Please reach out to Cameron Radke at cameron.radke@isd623.org for more information.
Vision Screening
Students will have their vision screened at the school next week in accordance with MDH guidelines. The screening will be performed by the school nurse using a WelchAllyn Spot Vision screener. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the nurse (contact information below). If the screening is passed with no concerns, you will not hear back about the results. If the screening shows that a comprehensive eye exam is recommended, the results and the recommendation will be sent home with the student.
If finances are a barrier to obtaining an eye exam and/or glasses, please contact the school nurse for resources. If you have concerns about your child's vision and do not receive a follow up letter, please contact the nurse and results can be provided.
A school-wide hearing screening will not be performed. The school nurse can perform a hearing screening for your student at any time upon request.
