Hello Snowshoe Families!

It's been a busy and fun first 4 weeks of school. Our cross country athletes have been working hard, preparing for the District wide meet. Our students have been working hard at the different testing requirements and learning so much. Our teachers and staff are working hard getting into the school routine and getting to know all your amazing students!

Let's talk about Pikmykid, our school dismissal app. There have been many issues with it, but we think we have all the bugs worked out, barring a few small exceptions.If you have not yet downloaded the parent app, please do. All parents should be making daily dismissal changes in the app now. All changes should be made before 3:00pm each day. If you have a permanent change to your student's dismissal, please call Christina Hancey in the front office at 907-352-9500 or if you have any problems or questions, please call.

The district wide cross country meet for elementary will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Palmer High School, beginning at 3:00pm.

Snowshoe will provide a bus for the athletes to the meet, but parents must pick their athletes up from the meet, as there will NOT be a return bus.

Our kindergarten team is hosting a family movie night on Friday, October 4. The movie being shown is Inside Out 2. This movie is PG. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to determine if this movie is appropriate for your child.

There is no charge to see the movie, but you may pre-order pizza for the movie by signing into your ParentVue account, Click on Fees section, click on Pay Fees button. For $25, you will receive your choice of pepperoni OR cheese pizza, and 4 available drinks. All pizza orders must be turned in before Thursday, September 26. Pizza orders are non-refundable. Bring cash, as there will be some other concessions available for purchase.

Doors open at 5:30pm. Movie begins at 6:00pm.

*THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN. NO DROPOFFS ALLOWED!

The seasons are changing and it is important that children are dressed for the weather. Our students go out to recess for 30 minutes everyday, up to -10 degrees F. They go out in the sunshine, rain, wind, or snow. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part they are outside for their full 30 minutes.

Please be sure that your students have the appropriate footwear and clothing to be able to enjoy their recess.

Our 3rd grade team would like to let you know how important it is for you to help your students master their multiplication facts. Students that memorize their 0-10 multiplication facts are recognized by our principal, Mr. Moore, in front of their peers and also receive a t-shirt for their accomplishment.

Those students will also get a shoutout in the newsletter!!

If you plan to leave Snowshoe to homeschool with Mat-Su Central, or any other non-district homeschool program, or if you are leaving the MSBSD district, Chromebooks and chargers must be turned back in at Snowshoe to avoid you being charged for them.

The results from the Spring 2024 AK STAR and Alaska Science administration are now available for you to view in ParentVUE if your child tested in Mat-Su in spring 2024. Directions on how to view these reports are attached as well as the Family Guide to Assessment Reports. If your child tested in another district in Alaska in spring 2024, you will need to contact the previous district for results.

Annual Title 1 Meetings

Snowshoe Elementary is committed to providing a quality education for every child. As part of this commitment, we will be holding our Annual Title I meetings and encourage you to attend.
