HFRCS Newsletter October 8, 2024
SY 2024-2025 Vol. 4 Issue 5
From the Principal's Office
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather! As we enjoy the weather here, please continue to pray for those victims of Hurricane Helene and the impending Hurricane Milton.
Our Hawk Walk Kickoff is this Thursday, October 10! What is the Hawk Walk Kickoff? It is when we send out all the information for our biggest school fundraiser of the year – the Hawk Walk. On Thursday, you will receive an email with your child’s donation link, which can be shared with family and friends via email or social media. Donations can begin as early as Thursday and will continue through the Hawk Walk until November 8. Please see the information page in today’s newsletter about the Hawk Walk, including a link to order Hawk Walk tee shirts!
Today as our Phillies continue in the NLDS, we will have Phillies “add-on” days. What is an “add-on?” Students wear their school uniforms, but can wear a Phillies shirt, jersey, or red shirt over their uniform. Students can add red hair ribbons, head bands, etc to build spirit for the Phillies. We will always give a heads up when planning a Phillies add-on day!
This week, there will be NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, October 11 as the teachers will be having their annual retreat day. There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 14 for Columbus Day.
As Queen of the Universe Parish concludes their observance of 40 hours devotions today, our students will join in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament (as they did yesterday as well) to pray for their needs as well as the needs of others and our world. It is a powerful prayer experience to sit before the Blessed Sacrament and to receive the peace and blessing of Jesus in this special way.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Haggerty
We are a family of FAITH!
Remember to go to Mass this weekend.
October Calendar Changes
Please note the following changes to the October calendar. The calendar that was distributed to the students will need to be updated with the following changes:
- Fire Prevention Program (PK-K) is on October 17, not October 9.
- 40 Hours on October 7 will start at 1:30 PM (not 1:00 PM) for the following grades: K-Gr.4
- 40 Hours on October 8 will start at 1:30 PM (not 1:00 PM) for the following grades: Gr.5-8
- H&S meeting on Oct 8 is postponed to Oct 10, 7:00 PM
Changes are highlighted/marked in the attached calendar. The calendar on the school website has the latest updates.
Carline Drop off Reminder (PK-Gr.8)
Car line drop off starts at 7:40 AM.
- Please DO NOT drop off your child(ren) at the front door when staff members are still available in front of the Parish Center for everyone's safety. If you do, your vehicle will be going against the traffic when you exit the parking lot. We have staff members who can assist your child(ren) so please remain in your vehicles.
- Please be extra cautious and attentive when exiting the parking lot. Watch out for staff/faculty pedestrians.
- The fire lane should remain free and not be used for parking.
Carline Pick Up (K-Gr.8)
Please do not block the entranceway (coming into the parish/school grounds from Trenton Rd.). Buses need to be able to the back of the school. When you park, please pull up your car as close to the car in front of you to accommodate many cars in one late.
Also, parents should park in lanes and not use the parking spaces at the exit of the parish/school grounds (next to the rectory/parking lot) - see diagram for more info. Stay in your lanes.
Thank you for your cooperation.
November Lunch Order
Per the October calendar, the due date for the November lunch order form is today, October 8. However, the order form is not yet available since the menus are pending from NDS. An email will be sent out once the menus and order form are available. You can also check out the website for an update. Due date for breakfast/lunch order will be adjusted.
As a reminder, please only select the specific lunches that your child will eat to reduce food waste. Please remind your child(ren) the days they are to come up for lunch.
From Enrollment & Marketing
Our second annual Grandparents Day will be held on Tuesday November 26th and is open to grades PK3 through 3rd and their siblings. RSVPs will open in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for updates!
From the Nurse's Office
Specific grades have State-mandated screenings (Physical for Kindergarten & 6th Grade and Dental for Kindergarten, 3rd Grade & 7th Grade). Refer to the school website for more information.
Also, signed Medical Treatment Order forms will also be needed if your child needs to take any medication during school hours.
Emergency Information Record & Medical Information update - RETURN
All students must have a completed Emergency Information Record & Medical Information Update form on school file. This is a back-to-back white form that was distributed to all students on the first day of school.
It is important that we have all the information on this form, especially the Medical Information update. Many families returned the form without the Medical Information Update or the Emergency Information Record. Please see attached for the forms. If you believe you did not complete both sides of the form, please complete the attached and return asap. This is critical information that the school needs in case of an emergency.
