May 2025 Newsletter
Dear Burnet Middle School Families,
I can’t believe it is already May! This is always an exciting time of year as we begin the final countdown until the end of the school year and the warmer weather approaches. Please keep in mind however, academics are still in full swing, so we can’t quite let up yet!
Just a reminder that our students will be taking the NJSLA for Science (8th grade only), English Language Arts/Literacy (NJSLA-ELA), and Mathematics (NJSLA-M) from April 28th to May 8th, 2025. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time with a charged Chromebook on testing days.
Last but definitely not least, I just want to take a moment to give a shout out to our amazing teachers and staff. Teacher Appreciation Week is during the week of May 5th - 9th. This is the perfect time to show our gratitude for all the hard work and dedication they put into helping our students grow and learn. Whether it's a simple thank you or a small gesture of appreciation, let's make sure they know how much they are valued.
As always, thank you to our BMS community for your continued support and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kloc

Seasonal allergies are here and can be unpleasant and difficult to manage.
It is up to you, parent/guardian to take care of your child’s allergies.
The nurse’s office does not dispense medication for treatment of seasonal allergies.
What can be done to minimize exposure to seasonal allergy triggers?
Have your child wash their hands and face as soon as they come into the house, so they do not rub pollen in their eyes and nose.
Have your child remove their clothes and shower when they come from school or playing outside.
Keep windows in your home and cars close.
Talk to your pediatrician or nurse practitioner about the best treatment options for your child.
🏀🔥 What an amazing time at the Burnet March Madness Tournament! 🎉
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who cheered, volunteered, and supported our students—you made it a success! 💙💛 Special shoutout to those who set up, reffed, and kept things running smoothly. Your efforts did not go unnoticed! 🙌
Parents and students loved the event and are already asking for more—maybe even expanding into different sports! ⚽🏈🏐
A big thanks to Mrs. Villane for designing the program, featuring the generous local businesses that donated prizes, food, and shirts. Our students even helped secure donations, making great connections in the community! 💡💪
An extra special thank you to Kenny Kruse for setting everything up! 🙏
Congratulations to Miss Colandrea & The PBSIS Team! What a great event for our kids this was!
This video highlights the P-B-S-I-S program and the March Madness Tournament. This event includes a three-on-three basketball competition where students must maintain good behavior to participate. The initiative promotes accountability and has led to a significant decrease in discipline issues while also involving the entire school community in various supportive activities.
Burnet's Hero
On April 2nd, the town honored Raymond Reilly, a security guard at Burnet Middle School, who bravely rescued an individual from a burning car just weeks ago. While he suffered burns on his hands, his courageous actions ensured the rescued person’s survival.
The Mayor, Committeewoman Guerra-Frazier ,our Spanish Teacher, Board of Education members, and Burnet Middle School community members came together to express their gratitude.

Burnet Middle School Spirit Week Recap
Right before spring break, Burnet Middle School turned up the energy and creativity with our annual Spirit Week! It was an exciting week full of laughter, great outfits, and plenty of school pride. Here's a quick look at the themed days that brought our students and staff together:
Monday, April 7 – Twin Day
Students and staff paired up with their friends to dress alike. From matching tees to identical hairstyles, the hallways were filled with double trouble!
Tuesday, April 8 – Student-Teacher Swap
Students dressed like teachers, and staff dressed like students—it was a hilarious role reversal that had everyone talking. This day was voted the favorite by students!
Wednesday, April 9 – Decade Day
From the groovy ‘60s to the bold 2000s, everyone picked their favorite era. The ‘90s took the spotlight—turns out, baggy jeans and flannel shirts are timeless!
Thursday, April 10 – Music Artist Day
Students and staff showed love to their favorite artists, dressing up as icons like Michael Jackson, Kendrick Lamar, Nelly, 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, and even our very own Diana Ross.
Friday, April 11 – Country vs. Country Club
It was a showdown between cowboy boots and tennis whites! While the country look slightly edged out the competition, the country club vibe held its own.
We want to give a huge thank you to all the students and staff who participated. Spirit Week was a success, filled with fun, creativity, and Burnet pride. Until next year—stay spirited!
April 24 - Bring Your Child To Work Day
Teacher Appreciation Week - May 5 - May 9
Don't forget to thank a teacher for all there hard work and dedication.
