SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
Are you interested in going to SFU (the "other" big university on the Coast and the only NCAA school in Canada)???? Check out the information for the new virtual campus tour.
We’re excited to share our new virtual campus tour!
SFU recently launched an immersive virtual campus tour, designed to give students and their families a closer look at what our university has to offer. We invite you to share this resource with your students to help them discover our vibrant campuses, academic facilities, and student life. This virtual tour is also a powerful tool for you to guide students in making informed choices about SFU.
Start browsing the virtual tour now!
- Explore all three SFU campuses and see how unique they all are – the virtual tour covers all three of our unique campuses, Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver. Students can explore each one in depth, and as SFU students can study across all three campuses during their degree, we’ve included the nearby communities to give a sense of each area’s amenities and lifestyle.
- Students can also get a taste of student life at SFU – the tour stops highlight spaces where students build friendships, study, share meals, and engage in recreational activities, clubs, and events. Each virtual tour stop provides a glimpse of what daily life looks like and how students connect, unwind, and have fun.
- SFU’s academic programs are prominently featured in the tour – we highlight our state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and academic buildings. We want your students to understand that they’ll have access to exceptional resources and learning environments that support their education.
- The virtual tour is available in multiple languages – English, Mandarin, Arabic, and Spanish. We hope this allows your students and their families to share in the tour experience together.
SFU Campus Tours – in person
You can also invite your students and their families to join us for a campus tour at Burnaby and Surrey, and they can learn about our faculties, academic programs, and student life. Led by a current SFU student, our tours provide valuable insights into university life. These tours also offer guidance on using Education Planner BC (EPBC) and navigating the SFU application process, helping prospective students get a clear understanding of their next steps. Students can sign up for a campus tour here.
Our rankings and impact to students at SFU
For the last 16 out of 17 years, SFU has been ranked Canada’s top comprehensive university by Maclean’s, and it’s easy to see why: SFU’s original Burnaby campus is a lively place to learn and grow. Located atop Burnaby Mountain, students enjoy access to over 30 academic buildings, an athletics center, a medical clinic, an observatory for stargazing, and access to hiking and biking trails. The Burnaby campus virtual tour gives students a chance to see how this space is designed to support success, both in and out of the classroom.

Tell us how you've budgeted, saved, invested, paid down debt, applied for as many scholarships as possible or how your side-hustle has helped you bring in extra cash. We want to know how your exceptional financial management efforts have made a positive impact in your life.
We understand that qualifying for a scholarship can be hard. That's why we're not asking for your grades or your GPA, and we're leaving this open ended without any strict qualification rules. We want to hear your story! We want to know what you've learned and how you intend on using your financial knowledge to build a better future for yourself.

TIPS FOR REFERENCE LETTERS
- Always ASK for permission to use someone as a reference first.
- Never assume or put down someone’s name without checking first.
Think carefully about who you are asking:
- Have they known you for a long time?
- Are they someone who you have interacted with positively? Can they speak highly of you?
- If your scholarship is in a certain subject area, can you ask someone who has known you in that class/subject/environment?
- DOES your SCHOLARSHIP REQUIRE SOMEONE in a SPECIFIC ROLE?
- You should always allow at least 2 WEEKS for your reference to write you a strong reference letter.
- MAKE IT AS EASY AS POSSIBLE FOR YOUR REFERENCE!
- Provide your reference with as many details as possible about your academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership, and volunteer opportunities.
Fill out the NorKam Student Profile directly below and share it with your referee.
- Read the instructions carefully on each scholarship application!!!
- Is there a length requirement?
- Specified format? (i.e. double-spaced with a digital signature.)
- *If there is specific criteria – LET YOUR REFEREE know!* (It is not your referee’s job to look up your scholarship criteria.) What does the scholarship committee you are applying to need to know about you in order for you to be selected successfully?
- Confirm if you need to send an online PDF reference letter or a hard copy letter inside an envelope. Ensure that signatures are: electronic (not typed in a "handwritten font") or actual. Your letter will require a signature!!!!
AND
- Remember to say “thank you” and update your reference if you are successful.

Are you asking someone to write you a reference letter?
Open the link below, download the document onto your computer and save it on your desktop (or documents). Fill it out, save it and send it to your referee with information about the scholarship and why you are applying. This document will aid your referee in knowing more about you rather than just "as a student" (as that is evident from your transcript); this will allow them to write about you as a person.
You can update it as the years progress for your future resumes because you've downloaded it onto your personal computer. Very difficult to fill out on a phone.
