Santiago Charter Middle School
Friday Newsletter: June 6, 2025
Hello Santiago Families-
This will be our last Friday Newsletter for the 24-25 school year. Hard to believe, but we only have a few days left in the school year! Thank you for trusting us with your students. It's been a privilege to watch them learn and grow.
To our promoting 8th graders, we are going to miss you! We wish you all the best in high school and beyond. Please stop by and say hello. And to our 7th graders, we can't wait to welcome you back as 8th graders! Have a wonderful summer!
PE Locker Clean Out: This Monday (6/9) and Tuesday (6/10), students will be cleaning out their PE lockers. To help them bring home their belongings, it would be great if you could send them to school with a bag on those days.
Library Books: All library books and textbooks are due back to the library ASAP. Textbooks include novels such as Beowulf, A Christmas Carol, The Giver, Lord of the Flies, etc. If items are damaged or lost, please see Ms. Maude in the library. Students who owe for broken devices may pay cash, check or credit card. To pay by credit card, contact the office.
8th Graders with Unpaid Library Fees: Please note, if your 8th grader has unpaid library fees on Friday, June 13th (the day of the Promotion Ceremony), we won't be able to collect payments at the ceremony. If this applies to your student, you'll need to visit our office the following week, between 7:30a-1p., to pay the fees and pick up their promotion certificate.
8th Grade Promotion Party Details: The festivities will start at 11:10am and will run through the end of the school day (2:25pm). Being that there will be water games, students will be able to wear free dress and flip-flops. We also highly encourage them to bring a towel-not just for drying off after the water games, but also for picnicking with their friends. Dress code: While we want everyone to be comfortable, bathing suits, spaghetti straps, short shorts, or crop tops are not permitted.
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony Drawing: If you would like to enter our drawing for a chance to win a reserved parking spot or 5 reserved seats at promotion, please consider donating $10 to Santiago. One ticket is $10, or a donation of $50 will provide your family with 6 chances in our drawing! Donations for tickets can be made in the office (cash or check) or through Santiago's Venmo page (@SantiagoCharterMS). Please be sure to mention your student's name, whether you want to be entered into the "parking spot" or "reserved seats" raffle, and "Santiago Promotion Fundraiser" in the memo portion. The last day to purchase raffle tickets will be Monday (6/9) and we will draw names on Tuesday (6/10). Winners will be notified via phone call. Good luck to all of you and thank you for supporting Santiago!
Promotion Ceremony: Students need to be dropped off by 8:15am by the blacktop (behind the locker rooms) to check in and get lined up. The ceremony will begin at 9am. If you are planning on parking at El Modena High School, the buses will start shuttling parents to Santiago starting at 7:30am. Following the ceremony, the final bus transport back to El Modena will be at 11am. For more details, scroll below for the attachment.
Uniform Donations: For our 8th grade parents, please consider donating your gently used uniforms. You can drop them off at school during school hours next week or anytime this summer between 8a-12p.
