Non-school aged children or children not enrolled at the campus are not permitted to accompany an adult visitor for campus events (class parties, field trips, end of year events, etc.) based on space and safety. This includes Field Day, End of Year Awards and Graduation parties.
As a growing campus, we have not allowed siblings to attend any large Norwood events due to the size of our classrooms and open spaces.
Thank you for adhering to the MISD policy and campus procedures.

EPI School Kits 25-26
As we start to near the end of this year and gear up for the new school year, we wanted to provide you with a head start on gathering the necessary supplies for your child's grade level.
Please see the attachments for detailed lists of supplies by grade level. By preparing ahead, you can avoid the last-minute rush and ensure your child has everything they need for a successful year. May 20th is the deadline to purchase supplies in advance.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to your child's education.

Symptom Free for 24 hours!
As we enter the colder months, we typically see an increase in illnesses among our students. To help keep our school community healthy and minimize the spread of illness, we kindly ask for your assistance.
If your child is experiencing symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, please keep them home. Children should be symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school. This practice helps ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a healthy place to learn and grow. If you have any questions or need guidance, feel free to reach out to the school nurse's office.
Thank you for your continued support!

Wash Your Hands!
This is a short video from the CDC. We are seeing an increase in students coming to the clinic with flu/covid/stomach bug symptoms. One easy way to prevent and lower spreading viruses is washing hands thoroughly.
MISD Smart Tags
Students who ride the bus were given a Smart Tag at the beginning of the year.
Students who require a replacement bus tag will receive one complimentary replacement. Any additional replacements will incur a $5 fee, which will be added to the student's Skyward account.
If a student forgets their bus tag at home, parents may bring it to the school before 10 a.m. to avoid the issuance of a replacement. Please note that all students riding an MISD bus must have a SmartTag.
Please contact the front office or Mrs. Mahan (Assistant Principal) for questions regarding replacement bus tags. For inquiries about the Parent App, please reach out to the MISD transportation department.
Norwood Visitors
Scanning Your ID in the Front Office
Beginning September 3, our campus will open to visitors to come on campus for lunch or volunteer opportunities. You must have an ID in order to come into the office to check out your child. You will not be allowed to enter the building without your ID.
If you are going to join your child for lunch or you are going to volunteer on campus, you must check in at the front office, and then you will receive a Visitor's Badge that must be worn once you walk into the main part of the building.
24-25 School Lunch and Visitors
In response to our growing community and campus population, we are committed to maximizing the safety and security of our students during lunch visits. Due to the collaborative spaces of our building, we are limiting lunch visitors to Tuesdays and Fridays to minimize distractions to the learning environment.
Parents can buy a lunch on your student's account if there is enough money on it!
We cannot guarantee that lunches from food delivery services like Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc., will arrive on time or are safe for your child. Do not use a food delivery service for your child's lunch.
If you have to bring your child's lunch to campus because they forgot their lunch, you must bring it to campus before the lunch block begins to ensure that their lunch gets to them in time. All lunches must be on campus before 10:00 am. If this does not work for you, your child can always purchase lunch at school through School Cafe.
Birthday Celebrations
You may bring nut-free store-bought treats or goodies to celebrate your child's birthday with their homeroom class. Birthday celebrations will take place at the end of the instructional day.
The STEM and Fine Arts Academies run on a different schedule and are permitted to bring birthday items during the designated lunch times.
Library Information
Norwood Field Trips
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community. I want to share some important details regarding our upcoming field trips.
Please be aware that any parent wishing to attend a field trip must have completed payment and cleared a background check. Due to space limitations, there are times we have a cap on the number of parents allowed, typically on a first-come, first-served basis. It is important you read your emails and keep up with Class Dojo so that you do not miss any field trip information.
If you have not paid by the deadline but still wish to attend, you may accompany your child by checking them out of school. However, please note that you will not be able to stay with the Norwood students, teachers, or other approved chaperones during the trip.
Most field trip locations are at public venues and you do have a right to be there. With this information, understand that you cannot join the Norwood students, teachers and approved chaperones on the trip. Our priority is the safety and supervision of our students when off campus.
Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to an exciting field trip season!
