Touchdown For Teachers!
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska exists to be there with you, whatever life brings. Field trips and final exams, tryouts and triumphs, they are rooting for the schools and teachers who make our communities great.
That’s why Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is proud to sponsor Touchdown for Teachers. They are asking Husker fans to nominate outstanding educators who help Nebraska’s students reach their full potential.
Students, parents, and community members are encouraged to nominate outstanding teachers who have gone above and beyond to support their students and improve communities across Nebraska. Teachers who are selected will be recognized at the Nebraska Football Red White Spring Game in April and will receive a VIP experience. Herbie Husker will also visit each teacher’s classroom as an added surprise!
To nominate a deserving teacher, please complete the nomination form below. Nominations will be accepted through February of 2024.

Kindergarten Enrollment Has Started!
Do you have a soon to be Kindergarten student that needs to enroll?
Exciting news! Kindergarten Round-up is coming up soon, and we're eager to welcome your little one to join us for the next school year. If you have a kindergarten-aged child, please get them enrolled by visiting http://bit.ly/3q6Tk46. Once enrolled, both you and your child will receive a special invitation to attend Kindergarten Round-up at their school.
Let's help each other out by spreading the word to friends and neighbors about the importance of enrolling incoming Kindergarten students. Your assistance is greatly appreciated as it helps us plan for staffing and other exciting activities for the fall. Thanks for being a part of our school community!
Safe & Secure Series: A Series on PLCS Protocols
What does a "Lockdown" look like in your student's building?
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is a way to respond to different situations, focusing on general actions rather than specific events. Similar to the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP has its own set of terms, but it's flexible in how you apply them. It's straightforward: there are five actions to take during an incident. "Lockdown" is one of them, and it is initiated in response to a perceived threat, such as an intruder or other potential danger within the school vicinity. During a lockdown, all students and staff are required to secure themselves in a designated safe area within the school building.
The decision to initiate a lockdown is made based on careful assessment and communication with law enforcement and other relevant authorities. Our priority is to ensure the safety of everyone on campus and to respond effectively to any potential risks.
We understand that the concept of a lockdown can be unsettling, but please rest assured that these measures are in place to create a secure and protected environment for our students. Regular drills are conducted to familiarize students and staff with the procedures, helping to ensure a swift and organized response in the event of an emergency. The safety of your child is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in supporting our commitment to maintaining a secure learning environment.
Students are trained to:
- Go inside the building (if outside)
- Hide in their classrooms and stay quiet
- Close and lock the door
- Turn the lights off
- Close and lock windows and blinds
- Account for students and adults
- Remain calm
- If you are at the school to pick up your student, you will not be allowed inside and your child will not be allowed outside
