Welcome back from Fall Break! We hope that you were able to enjoy last week as our first nine weeks came to a close. As we begin this second nine weeks and the weather starts to change, we are excited to see what this next chapter brings for our students and staff. Please find the following information around BCSC.

Central Middle School Teacher Mindy Summers was recently selected as the 2021 IASP Academic Junior Coach of The Year. Mrs. Summers was recognized for her dedication as Spell Bowl and Academic Super Bowl Coach at Central. Before Fall Break, we were able to surprise Mrs. Summers and present her award to her in front of her students and staff. Check out the video to learn more about this great teacher and well deserved honor.

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the BCSC School Board held a special meeting to discuss the collective bargaining agreement for certified teaching staff. As mentioned in the video, BCSC will formally vote on this tentative agreement at Monday night's upcoming regular School Board meeting. CEA (Columbus Educators Association) votes on this agreement October 21-22. If you would like to learn more about the collective bargaining process, please watch the video above.

On Monday night, BCSC will meet for the only School Board meeting for the month of October. A few of the highlights for this meeting include:

-Best Practice Presentation from Southside Elementary

-Public Hearings related to upcoming Building renovations

-Board commendations around the district
