Congratulations Mrs. Gardner!
After an incredible 31-year teaching career—16 of which have been right here at Dewey—we are both celebrating and saying a heartfelt goodbye to our beloved second grade teacher, Mrs. Wanda Gardner. Throughout her career, Mrs. Gardner has taught every grade from kindergarten through sixth (except first!) and has left a lasting impact at each level. She shares that one of her favorite parts of being at Dewey has been the meaningful connections she’s made with students and families over the years. Seeing students grow—and having them return for visits—has brought her endless joy. Dewey has truly been a second home to her, and she will deeply miss the daily hugs and the rewarding experience of watching her students thrive.
As Mrs. Gardner heads into retirement, she’s excited for new adventures and the opportunity to spend more time with family and friends, travel, and enjoy her favorite hobbies—cooking, golfing, skiing, and reading. While we will miss her kind heart, warm smile, and incredible dedication, we are thrilled for her and all that lies ahead. Thank you, Mrs. Gardner, for everything—you will be deeply missed!
State Testing Begins This Week
This week, our third through sixth grade students will begin the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). These annual state tests in English language arts and math help provide a clearer picture of each student’s academic progress and growth. The results allow us to better support students' learning in the classroom and help families support learning at home. We encourage all students to come to school well rested, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time so they can do their very best. Thank you for your support!
