Cheerleading Tryouts
Calling all spirited 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls and boys!
Cheerleading tryouts are coming up next week on August 27th, 28th, and 29th. Make sure to have your current sports physical and come join us at tryouts. Email Coach Sims at mary.kate.sims@gcpsk12.org with any questions. We hope to see you there!
Step Team Tryouts
Calling all steppers to the court!
Step team tryouts will be held from 09/10-09/13 in the cafeteria. If you have any 6th , 7th , or 8th graders interested in trying out, please have them pick up a packet from their grade-level AP office.
Chess Club
- Chess Club meets every week on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:25 in Mrs. Jay’s room in the tower after second bus call.
- Students are not required to attend all meetings. We will communicate meeting details via Google Classroom (code 4rlszod ).
- Pickup is promptly at 5:30 in the bus rider lanes, in front of the school.
- There is no required student fee to join Chess Club and there is rolling admission.
- All grades and all levels are welcome to attend.
- Please have your parents fill out the permission slip (on Google Classroom or outside Mrs. Jay’s room 5.224) before the first meeting.
- Secret guest players will be joining us for fun!
Discovery Cluster Youth Night
Join us on August 30 at the Discovery vs. Chattahoochee HS football game to celebrate the Discovery Cluster!
All Discovery Titans cluster students are invited to be part of the Neon National celebration!
Kick off at 7:30 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
- Free admission for students wearing their Titans spirit wear AND with a parent admission ticket.
- Free t-shirts to the first 50 students
- Youth cheer and band performances
- Food & Drinks

Universal Screeners: iReady Family Night
All GCPS Families are invited to join us!
Universal Screeners: i-Ready & MAP Family Night presented by Miranda McLaren, Executive Director for the Office of Accountability and Assessment on Tuesday, August 27th virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm.
During this session, GCPS families of students in grade K-9 will receive information about the i-Ready Universal Screeners, find out how they will help identify students' strengths and areas of need, and how they support instruction for all students.
Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese.
