Inside Centennial Schools

Connecting. Achieving. Preparing.
Walking into sixth grade!
The Centennial High School Pep Band and Middle School staff welcomed sixth grade students on their first day of school.
Welcome class of 2028
"New Kids on the Block" at Golden Lake Elementary
New students attending Golden Lake Elementary are showing their pride for their school. The students were treated to ice cream at the "New Kids on the Block" gathering. New students meet weekly and can invite a classmate--another great way our students are making connections.
Good read!
The Centennial High School Manufacturing Pathway program was featured in Precision Manufacturing Magazine, a Journal of the Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association. The pathway program provides career exploration and great learning experiences for students. The article can be found at the link below.
Phone-free at Centennial Middle School
Centennial Middle School students keep their phones in their lockers until the end of the school day and are phone-free during lunch. Students are thriving through true social connections and interactions with their peers.
Playground Picnic Party at Rice Lake Elementary
Rice Lake Elementary families and the community celebrated new playground equipment at their school with a Picnic Party.
Safety and Security Information: Learn about the reunification process
The District has a reunification plan in place if a situation arises such as hazmat, fire, water main break, or other emergency in our schools which would prompt evacuation to an off-site location.
How will parents be notified?
Reunification information would be communicated to families by phone, email and/or text from the District Office depending on the communication preferences you have indicated. If reunification is needed, parents/guardians will need to bring an ID with them to the reunification site. It is unlikely parents/guardians will be granted access to the building by law enforcement or emergency responders to pick up their student.
View the video, below so you are prepared if your student needs to be picked up from an off-site location.
School Board hosts listening sessions
In ongoing efforts to gather feedback from stakeholders, the School Board is hosting quarterly Listening Sessions for the public. The sessions provide the opportunity for community members, staff, parents, and students to meet informally with board representatives and the superintendent to discuss topics in the schools.
Listening Sessions increase communication and engagement work that reflects the district’s commitment to excellence. Additional sessions to seek input/perspective on topics established by the Board would be scheduled as a special or additional Board Listening Session.
Listening sessions for the 2024-2025 school year:
September 23, December 2, February 10, and April 21. Sessions are held in the District Office Board Room from 5:30 p.m.-6:15 p.m.
Reminders
Free meals for all students
Students can have one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day through the state's Free School Meals for Kids Program. Students purchasing Ala Carte items must have a positive account balance.
Although no application is required to receive the free meals, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important. Your student may qualify for free and reduced benefits such as reduced fees at school. Follow the link to complete the application.
Annual student information review and update due September 20
Centennial uses an online method in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal where families update annual information for students such as notifications, agreements, emergency contact information, and communication preferences, etc. This process eliminates the many beginning-of-the-year paper documents that would typically be collected during the first few weeks of school. If you haven't already completed the review, please log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to review and update the data on file for you as parents/guardians as well as your students, by Friday, September 20, 2024.
Please note: The annual data review is required to be completed before other areas of parent portal are available.
Immunization information
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in childcare, early childhood education, or school to be immunized against certain diseases, unless the child is medically or non-medically exempt.
If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after November 1st, 2023. What you need to do:
- Contact your health care provider and review your student’s immunization status to make sure they are up to date.
- If you missed a required vaccination, make an appointment with a healthcare provider or local clinic as soon as possible.
- Follow up with your students’ school if they have reached out to you regarding your student’s immunization status.
- Turn in medical (must be signed by health care provider) and non-medical (must be notarized) exemption forms to your child’s school.
Visit the MDH website for vaccine schedules, exemption forms and more information including where to get free/low cost immunizations today. Please reach out to your student’s school for any questions. Please note, K-12 immunization status is available on Campus Parent Portal.
