Greetings, Hosmer Families,
As we head into the holiday vacation week, I wish you all the best in this time with family. I hope you are able to enjoy company with one another and have time for rest and relaxation.
Lost & Found
Tomorrow is your last chance to look through the Lost & Found. Items will be donated over the break.
No Chorus the Week After Break!
The Hosmer Chorus is not meeting the week we return from break. Chorus will resume on January 7th.
Shift in Nursing Staffing
Tomorrow is ur School Nurse, Mikayla McIntyre's, last day at Hosmer. Nurse Mikayla is preparing for a new chapter in her career as she works toward completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Please join us in welcoming Gabriella Sabatino, (our current District Float Nurse who many of you have met) who will assume the position of Hosmer Nurse. She can be reached directly at Gabriella.Sabatino@watertown.k12.ma.us.
January Assessments
When we return to school in January, students will take a variety of mid-year assessments. These help us see student growth and plan intentional teaching and intervention to address areas for needed growth. Two of these assessments, DIBELS and the Math Numeracy Screener, are administered 1:1 with the teacher working directly with the students. iReady math and reading are computer-based. We will administer iReady across the school on January 15th and 16th.
Our multilingual students who work with English Second Language teachers will take the four-part state-mandated ACCESS test. This test assesses speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It will be administered from January 7-13. Please make sure students are in school and on time on these important days.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school and community.
With a grateful heart,
Ms. Moulton, Principal

Attendance Matters
Absences for appointments
School attendance and timeliness create a foundation for healthy social, emotional, and academic development.
If you child has an dental or doctor appointment that is not due to illness, please do not keep them home for the full day. They can avoid being marked absent by coming to school before the appointment, being dismissed for the appointment, and then coming back to school after the appointment.
Students who miss 10% of the school year (18 days in total) are classified as “chronically absent” by the state of Massachusetts. The state makes no distinction between excused and unexcused absences.
Note from the PTO
Hello Hosmer families!
Thank you so much to all of you who have donated to the Hosmer PTO enrichment drive so far - there is still time to give at store.hosmerpto.org if you are able. The Hosmer PTO is a 501c3 nonprofit, and all donations to the Hosmer PTO are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Save the Date: PTO Movie Night
Our annual PTO movie night will be on Thursday, January 9 in the Hosmer School Cafeteria. Doors open at 6pm, and the movie begins at 6:30pm. Suggested donation is $10/family, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
We are looking for volunteers to make this event a success! Please sign up at the link below if you are able to help with the event - we need bake sale items and volunteers to help with the event itself.
