This time of the year comes and goes quickly! We hope to see everyone at all of the upcoming events as often as you can attend! Please check below to see about all of the upcoming events, activities, and dates. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teacher.
We have a limited number of yearbooks left as well! Less than 30! Please call the office or reach out to your homeroom teacher if you're interested.
We hope to see everyone at our Spring Arts Showcase and Concert on Tuesday night! More information below.
Happy School Lunch Hero Day!
Mrs. Darlene, Mrs. Bonnie, and Mrs. Patricia are the best! They genuinely care for everyone at GV and it shows! The cafeteria is always welcoming and inviting as these ladies serve as wonderful, caring role models full of encouragement, smiles, and fun!
Book Fair!
The book fair is in full swing! Come visit the circus!
May 2-9 open Tuesday, May 6, 5:00-7:00 - during the Arts Showcase!
PreK
PreK has been learning about insects. We went on a bug hunt and found a beetle, observed several bees and compared them to the worms in our worm farm. We built a Bug Hotel.
1st Grade
Hatching chicks and coloring eggs!
2nd Grade
The 2nd graders had an amazing time on their field trip to Grandfather Mountain! They braved the famous swinging bridge and got up close and personal with some creepy critters while learning all about wildlife and the mountain's unique ecosystem. It was a day full of adventure, discovery, and fun!
The 2nd graders also GV celebrated School Lunch Hero Day by creating heartfelt cards for our amazing cafeteria staff. It was a great way to say thank you for all the hard work, kindness, and care they bring to our school every day. We are so lucky to have such dedicated lunch heroes!
3rd Grade
Third grade had a fun day at Grandfather learning about local landforms, animals, and completing a measurement scavenger hunt!
Science Pals
Our 2nd graders had an exciting time with their 6th grade Science Pals this week! For this fun project, students teamed up to design and build protective boxes to keep an egg safe, even when dropped from a two-story building! Some eggs survived the fall, and some didn’t, but every student walked away with new knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a big smile.
Mrs. Berke's Math
Students didn't miss a beat after spring break and got right back into working through and completing some difficult math concepts! Awesome work!
Talent Show
It's talent show time! This week, students have gone over the expectations and procedures to follow if they want to audition for the upcoming talent show. If your child(ren) are interested, please fill out this Google Form by Tuesday, April 29th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Franklin (franklinm@wataugaschools.org), Ms. Weschler (weschlerj@wataugaschools.org), or Mrs. Berke (berket@wataugaschools.org). We look forward to seeing you at auditions on May 1st!
