Senate Bill 29 - Notification Regarding Device Monitoring
In compliance with Senate Bill 29 (SB29) and federal regulations, Dublin City Schools is providing this notice to inform families about the monitoring of school-issued devices. As a participant in the federal E-Rate program, Dublin City Schools adheres to the requirements of the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA). This means that the district has an internet safety policy in place, which includes measures to block or filter access to inappropriate online content. Beyond compliance with CIPA, Dublin City Schools utilizes monitoring tools through our technology provider(s) for other permissible reasons as outlined under SB29 (ex: location tracking, web-browsing activity, and other student interactions with school-issued devices). These monitoring practices not only help in filtering content and alerting designated school personnel to potential threats, instances of violence, or indications of suicidal or self-harm ideation, but they also assist teachers in ensuring that students remain on task during class. These measures support the safety, learning, and productivity of our students both online and in the classroom. If you have questions about this notice, please email us at info@dublinschools.net.
Beyond the Classroom
If you’re looking for something for your student, check out the Beyond the Classroom section on the Families Quick Links page on our website. This is where you can find lots of information and opportunities that happen outside school such as Athletics, After School Activities, the Info Hub, and Global Travel. These pages were just updated with new opportunities this week.
